Huh, I thought Scheifele's line was pretty damn good. Lehner robbed them multiple times. Keep playing like that and they'll score a lot.
Ya something has to change on the PP , maybe move Ehlers up and Wheeler to the #2 . One thing about Wheeler on the PP though is he wins faceoffs which gives us possession , Scheifele loses too many especially on PP 's which kills tonnes of time . The other thing that would help the PP , a healthy Buff on it .For all of Wheelers great play on the 2nd line, he’s killing the PP. He hangs onto the puck far too long and the play dies on his stick too often. It was sad to see how much quicker and more efficiently the Hawks move the puck on the PP.
None of this talk about finding someone else for Laine to play with would be happening if they converted half their chances last night. The problem is in their half of the ice, not exactly breaking news.

I just started watching this game a few minutes ago, then after 3 minutes, I said, “Meh, not in the mood.” Sounds like a dud. Good thing I didn’t waste my time on it. Off to catch some zzzzz’s.

It seems that if Hellebuyck isn't stealing games, we ain't winning. Take a look at some of our last games (Detroit, Carolina and now Chicago). Or, maybe our depth is finally stretched to the breaking point... and it broke. Either way...We don't beat top teams. We don't beat bottom teams. We really like the mushy middle.
This game looked just like most Jets games this year. The thing missing to make it tight was our secret sauce team identity - Helle at 0.930+. Would have lost a tight 1 goal game - no biggie. Could have simply blamed it on puck luck or one bad penalty.
Next game should be a win if our team identity plays.
Yup I’ll admit that sucked. Can only ride that big wave for so long. It worked all winter till now though.I blame @The Blue Baron for this loss because he was bragging about his perfect record in games attended. Karma's a dish best served cold, Goldmember.
They had their chances offensively for sure, but they were caved in defensively. All of the forwards on that line were -3 on the night.Huh, I thought Scheifele's line was pretty damn good. Lehner robbed them multiple times. Keep playing like that and they'll score a lot.

First the vengeance guy and now the prosessor is mulling a comeback. You know, some things are just better off staying buried.
Top line was getting chances but no finish. KC was getting set up for some nice chances (at 5v5 and on the PP) but no finish. Got Goalie'd and Kane'd.
I thought Lowry had a strong game
2nd line has been great. Ehlers & Roslovic have great chemistry, and Wheeler as a C i think has had a strong 200 ft game over the past little while. Real good with puck battles and positionally w/o the puck defensively. Ehlers is damn near at the top of this forward group (or very near) in every notable 5v5 stat.
I guess you could call it no finish - but I wouldn't.
Depends on how you define it -
He had solid shots on net that would have gone on most nights - that's good goal tending, not poor finish.
It wasn't like he was fanning on those passes or missing the net.
The season is 35 games deep and how many shots has Laine been able to take on the PP from the Ovi spot? You could probably count the number on one hand. Interesting how folks complain about Maurice not "adjusting" but seem to be upset when he tries to make adjustments to help out an ailing PP.
His underlying stats are as bad as they have been in the past seasons and players who play with him are also dropping to his level in those metrics (including Scheifele whom many said is the player Laine "needs" to play with). Although unlike past seasons Laine atleast seems to be passing the "eye test" for me. That said, I am not sure saying "so and so" can't play with Laine is accurate anymore considering that category now seems to include 90% of the top-9 forwards on the Jets.
WHAT !!!Holy crap. Avgard! You really need to have a talk with Mrazek's Vengeance!
finish = goals, we got goalie'd think i mentioned that
Down to the first WC position. Would actually love to finish in that slot and play against Pacific teams.
I guess quite a bit early to start thinking of that!
It's Funny alright .Agreed. Don't understand why some people think that kind of behavior is funny.
Those have gone down ever since Buff got hurt . Remember how bad the PP got when Trouba was on the #1 PP .As far as the PP goes, I think the only change to PP1 has been to occasionally switch 55/29. That's not what's wrong with the PP though. The problem is that it's static or very close to that. Watching other teams' PP is mostly very dynamic and creates confusion for the PK. Even teams that don't have the weapon that Laine is, have much more success getting passes to open guys for one timers.
My belief is that Laine isn't scoring on the PP for the past calendar year because of the PP setup and lack of playmaking/passing. I think I asked previously if there was any way of knowing exactly how many really good chances Laine has had to beat the goaltender on the PP from a great pass. It would be interesting to know, because I can't remember even one off hand.
