Correlation does not mean causation. Your defending your point that the team has been playing badly with Kane in the lineup, while simultaneously ignoring potentially more pertinent facts that would explain this recent skid.

We are legit down 3 of our PP1 players.....Obviously the argument could be made that changes would be coming with Kane's addition, but the fact remains.
I'm not ignoring the fact that we are banged up, I've actually acknowledged it more than once in this thread.

I feel like I've argued my point to exhaustion though, so I'm good to give Patty more time to try and figure it out. At the end of the day, we're all Wings fans here, and we all want success from the team. I'm getting frustrated, but I mean, everyone is probably frustrated with the recent slump considering the team was playing so well in November.

Let's see what Kane can do tonight. We could really use a boost from his veteran leadership, and could use a couple points from him (and Cat) tonight. I hope he's fired up, and I hope he comes out flying, and with tons of intensity. I fell ike if Kane comes out busting his ***, the rest of the team will follow his lead. Need to stop the bleeding tonight with 2 points against Philly.

I love wings fans....

We are paying Kane, 2.75 million for 1 year, if he hits half a point per game he is already a great value.

The fact that people thought he would walk in, go point per game pace right off the bat and look like he didn't miss 6 months (which he actually has looked way better then I thought post recovery).

People hear the name Kane and automatically think he should be 80 to 90 points, while ignoring the fact he got 2.75 because his surgery and recovery is such an unknown certainty.

The best part is if he keeps going forward, and get close to 75% of what he was, it sounds like he wants to stay here and willing to do it at a discount.

None of us have said we expect him to be 80-90 point Kane. We just think he hasn't looked good, period. He has had major defensive lapses, has been slow in the offensive zone, and easily knocked off the puck. That doesn't mean he can't/wont' get much better, I expect he likely will.

Lots of strawmen in here.

if Kane doesn't score at least 10 goals a game and win the Selke unanimously then what was even the point of signing him? that money could have been used to bring back Brendan Smith
I'd say 10 goals per game is tad unrealistic, but he should be able to chip in with at least 5 or 6 per game, minimum.

Put me in the camp that thinks he's looked really good. The powerplay looks so much more dynamic with him feeding pucks and actually able to hold on to it. I know the stats don't show much, but the sample size is small. His skating looks good, his IQ is still there, and all of this without some of the top players he was brought in to play with. I'm very pleased with with his addition, and barring a big injury setback, I expect him to continue to get better.

Kane at times looks dangerous, hopefully that starts resulting in production.

However he is a bad fit in some ways, doesn't play a heavy game at all. Showed at times in the third period tonight. Hope the hip isn't starting to bother him with all the extra use right now.

He's been a non-factor so far.
He probably had his worst game today. Overall he’s been fine. His vision is off the charts, as is his IQ, I think when Larks is fit you pair the two. He needs some skill on his line, someone who will make space for him. Larkin should do that. As expected physically he looks weak, avoids hits and too much contact.

The team is pretty disjointed right now though so it’s pretty unfair to judge too harshly IMO.

We were never going to make the playoffs anyways . Start of the season was a mirage. Wonder if kane had the intention to resign if things go well if he'd take one for the team and get dealt and come back

Either way I'm sure if we keep losing he'll be asking himself why he came and might ask to be dealt at some poinr

Kane joined the team just in time for a bunch of guys to get injured and the whole team to go out of sync. He also hasn't played competitive hockey in almost 8 months. Judge his play in February.

I am easily not a big Kane fan, but offensively I think he has looked quite good thus far, especially given the surgery he had, but even without that he is making nice plays, has hit 3 or 4 posts already and that is without having found chemistry with DeBrincat so far. Defensively yes he isn't good, but he was never accused of being good in his own end.

Larkin is out, and we all know that affects our whole team greatly. Sometimes I think people forget how important Larkin is to this team. We don't have other bus drivers and I am including DeBrincat and Raymond in that. DeBrincat has shown to me he definitely needs someone else to drive offence and he can then finish plays, as he doesn't really create a lot on his own. Raymond can at times, but then other times he also can't.

Given Kane's surgery, expecting anymore than him even being able to play regularly is a lot to expect. Guy has played 6 games and honestly should be getting shifts off here and there as he probably shouldn't be playing so many minutes already.

Kane has looked better than anyone could have asked for. Not sure what people expect with the players we have out of the lineup.

Kane doesn't regret coming here. Fact is, if Detroit misses the playoffs he's likely desired by every playoff team and I'm sure has negotiated (verbal agreement) some say in where he ends up going.

The fact that Kane has come back to the NHL after his surgery and looks this good is in itself a WIN!

I'm not looking at his points and minuses. We have crappy goaltending and defensive lapses through no fault of Kane. If you actually watch his play and skating, you'll see he is going to go on a tear soon and breakout. You can see that as plain as day. The problem is every time you think he's about to breakout, an important player will get badly injured (Larkin). A goalie will fall on his face and give up 5 weak goals in one single period (Sharks).

It's like the world is cursing us. The only silver lining we have right now is the fact we have Patrick Kane and he will eventually break out. No doubt about it!

And if injuries pile up and goaltending doesn't pull together and WE ARE out of the PO race, SFY will get free assets trading Kane to a contender (assuming Kane stays healthy).

How people can look at stats and criticize Kane is beyond me. Just proves we live in an instant gratification world where obese people lay on the couch eating Doritos all day and feel entitled while demanding excellence. Gross.

7 games since Kane joined.

1 win
5 losses
1 loser point.

Kane himself has looked good, but man, how did his arrival did trainwreck everything what was working in the team.

This narrative really needs to die already.

It is an amazing coincidence that we keep losing while he is in the lineup, but losing the top 2 C's at the same time, then 🤮 perron get's suspended, then Kostin gets hurt (isn't a big role but was definitely on a line that gave the team some kind of energy), then lyon gets hurt, kostin comes back and gets hurt again, then husso gets hurt....

I mean really? And the only common denominator here is kane joined the team? Come on guys.

Not Kanes fault we’ve been incredibly streaky this year. Seems like we are unbeatable for 7-8 games. Then lose 7-8 in a row. I expect us to turn it around soon and go on a win streak. Rinse and repeat

Just unbelieveable, how all the others forgot how to score or play hockey, when Kane arrived.

Kane is doing well. WTF everybody else is doing ?

I think it's naive to think that a superstar like Kane could show up and it wouldn't change the dynamic of the team.

Either way, he has looked really good. I feel like everyone in the team is looking/cheering for him too much. Just get back to playing.

Kane is looking great, especially considering there were legitimate concerns he wouldn’t be able to play at all. Well it’s looking like he’s our most dangerous forward. No concerns there and I hope we keep him until he retires.

Call Edvinsson up and waive Maatta to make room.

If Berggren is really on the trade block, leverage him and a couple other decent pieces to get a good goalie. Gibson from Anaheim would be ideal.

Totally different team after that.

Kane will be our best trade bait at the deadline. If he wants to return even better but we should be moving him for a 1st+

This team is going downhill and tb,nj etc... will surpass them
