true, but saying it isn't possible wouldn't be completely accurate. We also wouldn't have to sign sprong or ghost and we could get cheaper players to fill that void.
Of course, it is possible. I don't think that forward group is better than the one we have now, because of the lack of depth.

I don't know if already posted in here but this is what an injured Kane can do.

Yeah his poise with the puck is elite he sees the ice very well and will no doubt in my mind will make everyone around him better with his vision. I can see him feeding the likes of Veleno, Perron, Raymond especially for some reason I'm wondering if they start him in the 3rd line or top 6? I'd imagine eventually he'd be with Dcat right?

I'm pretty sure they are going to want to play Kane and DCat together from the start.
It sounds like both guys have wanted this, and this was instrumental in getting Kane to Detroit so I'm sure both the coach and GM will be trying to accommodate this request. I doubt they throw Kane out on the top line, so it will probably be Kane and DCat on line 2 to start. Larkin and Raymond on line 1. Switch around Veleno, Fabbri, or Perron as needed.

Veleno-Larkin-Raymond
DCat-Compher-Kane
Fabbri-Copp-Perron
Sprong-Ras-Fischer/Kostin

If DeBrincat is with Kane, I'd like to put Copp in the middle to do the dirty work.

That would enable Compher to have his own line... and that's insane offensive depth for the team.

Veleno - Larkin - Raymond
Fabbri - Compher - Perron
DeBrincat - Copp - Kane

Sprong - Ras - Fischer/Kostin

No one can have a good matchup against those lines. There's always too good 3rd line killing opposite teams, even though they would handle Kane and DeBrincat as the top line.

This is so lovely situation on the current team. In real, I don't really care about the lines, because any combination of that Top9 will always be great and effective.

Naw we can't put our best goal scorer with Copp. It's so easy to see the solution, you chuck out Ras on the 2nd line Dcat-Compher-Kane, and leave everything else alone.

Or Dcat-Larkin-Kane, Veleno-Compher-Raymond. The way Raymond has played I don't think this would faze him.

Sorry brother, I know have been preaching a balanced lineup, and it IS working, but I would rather Comp center a scoring line. He can play the 200 ft game needed to balance out the defensive inadequacies of the wingers. NOW if Kane can not handle the load of second line minutes initially, I can see a lineup where some of this occurs. I know people want to point to Fabs as the rightful heir to the second line, BUT, I think part of his effectiveness is his role on the third line. We have all discussed this for years. I think he is an exceptional weapon on a third line. He is clearly thriving so far

The top 6 should be something like:

veleno/ras - larkin - raymond
dbc - compher - kane

Compher has high iq (something I didn't factor in when I first wanted him in FA). dbc and kane have high iq and it's rough to play with someone who isn't at that level because its just frustrating. That line is going to COOK.

That is probably going to be our top 6 to start because lalonde has said before that he "wasn't sure" who dbc would be paired with at the start of the season when it was obviously going to be larkin. Then he moved dbc down a line to see if it could work to split them up in the event of a kane signing (that it seemed like they all knew was happening at some point). They wanted to test kane to see what he was like in practice and if he showed a glimmer of hope to be the old kane, then he would be with dbc to start and go from there.

hindisght wise, I am confident that lalonde knew we were signing Kane the day we moved dbc down to line 2.

I'm pretty sure, that the first time I see Kane playing for Wings, it just gives a feeling, that DAMN, I haven't seen a better player wear a Wings jersey since Z and D retired.
Agreed...And that's really telling of the lack of true 'hi-end' talent on this Red Wings roster.
