I didn't see it but did see the tweet of him saying it was unintentional. What do you guys think? Is that legit? He's never done anything remotely off kilter before.

He is going to get a game. KAM said it was accidental. Being that he doesn't have a history of bad behavior, dirty plays etc. I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that it won't happen again, but that doesn't excuse what he did. Take the game and move on.

Agent: Wtf was that?! You’d better get out there and get ahead of this thing. You better do some damage control.

Sure, talk to Doughty then leak it to the press.

My guess is that the spitting was unintentional. But it was still wrong, regardless, deserving some degree of penalty.
I can't imagine Key doing it again.
I want you on my jury if I ever get arrested.

I just want to point something out, I’ve watched key all season. He spits slot on the ice, this moment just magnified it. Watch any game, the kid is always spitting. This was definitely accidental
Come on. You don't spit in someone's face by accident when they're 2 feet in front of you. Directly in the face for that matter. It was a typical end zone whistle scrum and it's possible Doughty said something that would provoke a response. He learned this lesson and there might be more discipline from the NHL. In real life, you can serve jail time for spitting.

"Oops, I was aiming for the ground, why did you go and put your face there?" You could tell right away how embarrassed he was, I actually felt a little bad for him. Stupid move.

I like Miller the player. Miller the person is a d-bag. I’ve been around him a few times and not in an autograph seeking or weirdo capacity. He was d*** to kids at a season ticket holder event for one. I hope they slam him. I’m always up for grit, physicality, and even some borderline dirty antics but spitting in someone’s face is gross and downright disrespectful. Not that it matters, but Doughty has and will have accomplished 100x more than Miller will in this league. If you’re that amped up then drop the gloves or knock him out of his skates on the next play.
This is total horseshit. You historically have had a thing against Miller on this team and even sided with that trash can Tony D'Angelo. I have seen this kind of shit from you for years since I've been here. Don't f***ing deny it. Miller is one of the best kids on this team.

I agree with this. At first I thought it was on purpose because of maybe something Doughty said but I now think it was accidental. He does spit a lot on ice. It was still stupid and should have been penalized.

If Miller is suspended, I assume we’ll see Lindgren dress? Lindgren already counts against the cap whether he is dressing or not.

He did not “spit in his face”

Give me a break

K'Andre Miller has spoken with Drew Doughty about the spitting incident tonight that got the Rangers D a match penalty. I'm told he explained that it was not on purpose, that it was accidental, and that he felt bad about it. I was told it was a good conversation.

I don’t think I’ve ever said a bad thing about Miller prior to todays shenanigans. I thought him being compared to a future Hedman by some was way over the top, but he’s been very solid on the 2nd pairing. I think he’s probably got another level to his game that he hasn’t hit yet. I’d like to see him be a little more physical given his size/strength.

“Sided with DeAngelo?” Yea, I didn’t like how that scenario played out, but what does that have to do with Miller? I thought the rumor of them having an issue was determined to be nonsense.

I didn’t say Miller is an awful human being. I said in my few experiences with him I didn’t like the way he handled himself. One of which was around kids, not adults seeking autographs or a new best friend. “One of the best kids on the team.” Oh yea, based on what? I don’t remember Laf, Kakko, or Fox spitting in a future HOF face. Hopefully he was just fired up and this was a one off as I’ve never thought of him as a dirty player.

Yes, that’s what I spend my free time doing. I’m pushing an anti-Miller agenda to people I don’t know on a hockey message board “historically” and for years. Go through this entire Miller thread and find one time before today when I criticize Miller as a person. Let me guess, nothing.

I guess criticizing his actions and holding him accountable for doing a classless thing and hurting the team is unfair to him.

Your comment is out there. Just block me. My comment was fair.

I love Miller but if that was an accident he's the dumbest guy in hockey, a whole scrum going on around you and you can't figure out not to spit straight out from your face? Not buying it. He's getting atleast a game, probably more.

I didn't see it live, but that is some crazy shit, he really hocked one. Not sure what he was doing, I've never seen a player launch one like that. Insane.

OK so I finally watched the clip and that was definitely on purpose.
I watched (single clip, single angle, slo-mo) as well, and can't really say. If it's on purpose, then he's hid it.
Just hope he won't get 1) into something like this anymore 2) too many games suspension
End of.

Hey explain to me how captain Stamkos got away with this in game 3 of the ECF? He should have been gone for the rest of the series.

Magically they got away with it?
Horse$hit league. Officiating is ruining this sport
