Watching him these past few games is equivalent as to watching Panarin all of last year. Just dumbfounded and amazed at their brilliance.

Hard to say with the whole league wide cap situation and uncertainty but they certainly could have looked into make a trade that allowed for the cap space, or not re-signed Strome, etc etc

if they moved strome, his cap space would have gone to a center replacement...but point remains that we didn't have the cap space to make a move without equal $$ going out. if we had the cap space (ie no dead space) i have no doubt that we would have gotten a top 4 LD. no one thought miller was even ready...this is definitely a case of sometimes it better to be lucky...

I don't think you've ever heard Miller speak in your life. He carries himself like a future captain and says all the right things every single time. He is a natural.

I don't see Miller being the captain over Lafreniere for instance. Nothing against Miller, but we will have some players with seniority probably having letters for a long time

(+6) stat as well with 1 helper & 1 goal this night in 6 games, Miller is one of the few positives in this current version Rangers in 2021.

Absolutely loved seeing him come all the way across and blow this play up before it really got going. Every other Ranger defenseman just backs up in that situation. Kid is special.

It's amazing how he is insulating and letting Trouba play his game, instead of vice versa.

What a genius move on K'Andre's part, intentionally doing mediocre in his last year of college so he can jump straight to an NHL teams first line and be their 2nd best defenseman out of the gate.

People definitely lean on platitudes without even really seeing the prospects play.

The strongest endorsement for him was how people raved about his neutral zone play and stick work. That implies NHL ready smarts, positioning and foresight along with the physical tools. Right now his decision making WITH the puck needs a little work ( lots of flubbed passes I've noticed) but our team has been THAT bad defensively for SO long it made his D abilities already the best on the team lol.

Frankly I suspect a significant number of people running this team have no clue what makes a quality defenseman which is why all summer they were going ballistic for K'andre. He was like a revelation to some of them when he's what they should have been looking for all along. I half suspect they just knew he used to be a forward and traded up bc they figured that would make him better on O... with zero consideration for his D ability. Then he developed defensively and suddenly "OMG what did we luck into?"

Which paints an unrealistic picture of clowns with no clue about half the game but some of the moves they've made these past few years...

Why does it seem like lately its been a lot easier for D-men to hit the ground running in the NHL than forwards? Used to be that D-men would take years to break in.

Well one thing that was easily predictable was how bad JJ is and how much he was gonna play (too much) while costing us at least a goal a game. Everything else has been upside f***ing down.
