If it's anything half serious, I'd just shut him down for the rest of the season. Half a season of meaninglessness isn't worth a career. If surgery is needed, better to get it now and be recovered in time for some offseason training in July

Missing the rest of the season is “fine” just hope it’s something that can fully heal without a surgery.

I read on another forum, and it was nothing more than someone's speculation, but the dreadful acronym ACL was uttered... and it is stuck in my head. And FML if that actually is the case. Argh!

Where is Dr Slaf's press release on this?

Nothing wrong with passing but we don't string any together with speed. We pass and the receiver looks around to make the next one, way to slow. Tampa, Colorado what treats to watch, everything done at high speed. We scored a powerplay goal about two games ago, CC got the goal, the team strung four quick passes together and bang in the net. We need much more of that.

Transition offense is not really our problem. When that is contained, that is the problem cause they play on the perimeter and loose puck possession.

I see your point but if we are shooting to be a contender down the road, we need a few shooters added in.

This team knows what they have & have seen with Guhle. He will not play until he’s 100%.
I’m sure even if he wants to play they’ll be cautious. Give him a month or whatever then a conditioning stint in the AHL, after that he’ll be back rested and raring to go.

It's been bugging me for a while, but I finally realized who Guhle reminds me of in terms of his style: John Carlson.

Too bad he's injured. I can't believe how much he's improved defensively since the start of camp. For most of camp I thought he had bad gap control and would overcommit when defending, but that is all gone now.

Will they put him on LTIR?

Very unfortunate injury. Hopefully, he will fully recover and keep up his good play.

As usual, Habs are losing their best players to injuries since years now.

The bad ones are never near the puck and habs have a few of those. I hope instead of plowing him 25 mins a game against big opposition when he comes back he gets 3rd pairing soft offensive minutes and all the powerplays.

I hope so. He was demanded to play way too many minutes because of injuries to vets and overall lack of talent and-or experience.

He has been to good for the Habs. I think it's time they send him down when he is healthy.

Have to disagree on Carlson. To be fair though, these comparison's are usually something of a fool's errand.

Carlson is not very physical and doesn't compete very hard in the dirty areas or defend very well, basically an offensive dman in a big body. Ignoring the fact that they are opposite handed. Carlson is mostly a puckmover with a big shot but not a complete player. Guhle is far more implicated in the Dzone and is much more aggressive at attacking defenders in the dirty areas and killing plays off of the rush.

I have a different comparison albeit flawed in it's own right. I see the potential for a bigger, meaner version of Duncan Keith with slightly less offensive upside. Keith broke 60 points twice but I see Guhle's ceiling as closer to mid 40's with an outside chance of tickling 50 in a career year. Keith was an intense competitor and a tremendous leader who was a beautiful skater and exceptional passer. He broke double digits in goals 3 times but was never a top goalscorer among dmen. Instead he usually hovered in the low to mid 40's point range and was counted on in all situations. Keith used his speed and stick to attack opponents immediately as they entered the zone and battled like a warrior in the dirty areas albeit a little more dirty than Guhle but less physical and equally as effective. And....they are both left handed.

Now that I really think about it, I would compare Guhle to a hybrid of Keith and Seabrook.

The team has plenty of shooters but that is part of the problem as they are content to play on the perimeter and shoot from there. We need more players who can break down one on one coverage and penetrate into the teeth of the defence in order to break down the opponents defensive structure. This will allow for more open and less predictable looks for our shooters. We need players who can enter the zone in a manner that makes the opponent uncomfortable and puts them into crisis mode immediately upon entry. This is how defenders make mistakes, not by carefully setting up a static perimeter where defenders are well versed in exactly where to be and how to defend.

Would Kaiden Guhle had avoided or reduced his risk of injury if he had been in the AHL?

Sasha Barkov fell right on his leg, there's no Sasha Barkov's in the AHL..

Yep, Guhle wasn't ready. He also had a big injury in the WHL.. might have to go back to minor midget.

I'm blown away with how good he is, being anchored to Edmundson and Savard is really putting him under the radar. He's the best offensive defenseman on this team outside of Matheson, his poise and activation at 20 years old is just insane. Most of his underlying numbers get crushed because of Edmundson and Savard's inability to make a breakout, he's facing so much pressure in the D-zone from it.

I look around the league and there's very few U21 defenders I would take over Guhle
