Anybody watch practice? I wonder if they are trying it behind the scenes? It seems like a logical move to make due to how we are struggling but there has to be information we don't have. Why would someone like MSL not try it? Makes no sense

The only thing I can think about is they are trying to monitor their ice time as rookies
I'm also somewhat curious about what they are doing at practice. Early on in his tenure the media talked a lot about how his practices were very different from how other NHL coaches run their practices. I have a suspicion that we just don't spend as much practice time on the PP as other teams do, which does makes some sense for a rebuilding team that's more focused on development then scratching out a few extra wins here and there. The PP isn't a priority because winning isn't the #1 priority this season.

As for why Guhle and Xhekaj don't get much PP time, I think like with Slaf, they want to manage the level of responsibility and don't want to give them too much too soon. The idea being they focus more on their 5-5 game which will help them more long term. Not sure I fully believe that approach is the right one, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

Marty did two practices just about PP early on, you saw improvement but since then they regressed again.

MSL will have to change his approach. The players understand the assignments, they can do it for a few games and then regression... Over and over again for 3+ years.

And the kids are learning in that environment...

Guhle is a pretty much a top pairing D already he as shown some crack lately but he will only get more reliable. The skating and defense is almost already elite is decision making is solid and is offense isn’t flashy but still effective. I think is isn’t crazy to think he can be more defensive/ less offensive Pietrangelo.

Guhle vs Sanderson, who do you pick?
I always thought it was close and not to sound like a homer, but Guhle has stepped into the NHL as a 20 year old and become a reliable, consistent top pairing D. Will only get better with time and experience, so I’m going with him.

I hope he doesn't lose a step for the rest of his career because of what happened tonight...

His speed and ability to close on attackers is such a great asset.

Yeah, his knee twisted really weird behind him. Hopefully, he's OK. I was worried about ACL tear, but the fact he was able to get off the ice ok, and walk to the dressing room without aid gives me hope it's a minor sprain & he's only out 2-3 weeks.

I almost got the same injury last week. I can walk fine but it's not great. At first, I thought I had a tear too

How come nobody is asking Dr Slaf about the status of the injury?

Tweet mentions knee splint but not crutches

If Guhle is out for a month just to ensure that the knee is 100% I’d be happy. Even rest of the season. Just make sure he is 100% for when Habs are worth watching again.

Guhle has impressed me. He does a lot of little things right, his pinches seem to be well timed as he doesn't get burnt. That is good decision making. As he gains confidence he will get better offensively I believe. I am really hoping for a Robinson type defenseman out of him.

Hope he's OK, didn't look good at all

But good news is he was able to get off on his own

Predicting just a sprain so maybe only 4 weeks
