Kadri

He's definitely been a negative in the first 2 games of this series. He almost single handedly cost us the last one. I hope his impending break allows him to reset and find his game. We could really use the player he is when he's on. It's just been a while since we've seen him.

I think you lot are overreacting towards the hit; really bad timing, but you can hit in hockey.

I feel the same, his elbow was slightly too high (maybe, I need to watch more replays) but a lot of people are overreacting. When the impact is dramatic like this everybody go crazy.

If we want the cup we need Kadri to step up as soon as possible. Bednar and Sakic really need to sit down and talk to Kadri in person, when on his game he is valuable. The Cup should be enough of motivation for Kadri, then he will be remembered for ever, he still have a chance to turn this negative trend around. I realize it's more difficult for Kadri to shine in a team like Colorado (comparing to Toronto how they used to play) but we all know he can do much better than this.

Kadri is clearly going through a really rough patch with this dry spell. To my ey, the dude is trying but maybe trying too hard and being too cute. The hit was bad, really bad, and had it been a Blouse player doing it is be furious, but I have to feel for kadri, his reaction shows it was unintended, and for a dude already in his own head because of his lack of production this will have been a huge blow. Now everyone piling on like he's the worst player ever.

We need still need Kadri this year but he's really been a net negative. You just get the feeling he doesn't fit the team's identity when you watch him play.

It’s not just a dry spell. If you’re not producing, you can’t be a liability everywhere else.

Outside of maybe Nemeth, no one is hurting this team more then Kadri. TO game 1..goal. 5 minute major..despite yeomans work by the PK for the first 4 minutes..goal.

Including playoffs, his last 31 games:

31GP, 2G, 7A, -3

He was the only regular on the Avs this year who was a minus player, and it was a -7. The incoming suspension in the playoffs is the cherry on top.

It’s to the point where I’m wondering if Kadri is hurt actually and we’ll hear them announce some surgery after the season is over in July.

Yeah, watching Kadri's line on the ice followed by Jost's line is night-and-day. One of the lines is hustling and harrying and covering open ice and passing lanes to force turnovers and snuff out any offense the Blues try to create; whereas the other is typically one-and-done in the OZ and frequently gives up ice without much in the way of a challenge or forecheck.

I recall @Pierce Hawthorne suggesting a few months ago that this teams issue was 2C when most thought 3C was the biggest issue, and the more this season has progressed the more I've found myself agreeing with that. Upgrading on Kadri may be the single most important action Sakic needs to take this offseason - other than resigning Makar, Landeskog, and Grubauer of course.

The Avs won't win the Cup without Kadri in the in lineup and playing well. Getting past the Blues and maybe even Vegas could happen... but down the road against teams outside the division, they need Kadri. The hate is getting a bit over the top here. He's struggling and not playing to his capabilities, but he's always been inconsistent. It will change at some point. The Avs really need it to happen in the next 4-5 games.

On this hit... I don't see a ton coming of it. By NHL rules he isn't a repeat offender, it is the playoffs, and he got a 5 and a match... I see two games at most and likely just one game.

Except that he's not a liability everywhere. In the first two games of this playoff series he is top 5 or 6 on the team in:

CF%
FF%
SF%
HDCF%
Hits
Faceoff%

He had a bad turnover in game 1 and a baaaad hit in game 2, but it's the lack of productivity that has most people pissed off with him. He's not a liability everywhere. He's trying and doing good things but just not executing.

Points are not everything and he's far from the only player on this team making mistakes. The hate here is strong, there always has to be a scapegoat and the flavor of the month here is Kadri and/or Nemeth.

A very big part of the 3rd line being everywhere is Nuke. One of Nuke or Saad should be playing with Kadri to jumpstart his game.

Yes, I agree that one of Nichuskin or Saad would help Kadri immeasurably. However I get the sense that Saad doesn't like playing with Kadri. Saad likes to find small spaces in the slot to let quick shots off, and Kadri just isn't adept at making those passes to find him there. By contrast you could tell last night that both Jost and Nichuskin are trying to make those passes on every shift.

People keep talking about waiting and hoping for the Kadri of last year to show up. At what point does that become waiting for a unicorn?

I'm not saying he's an ineffective player -- the stats bear it out; he has offensive ability and helps drive possession/production, even when he's not scoring points.

I am saying he's a full-on liability at all times, because you simply do not know when Kadri is going to go Full Moron and make a terrible decision. This is way too frequent an occurrence: ugly turnovers, selfish plays (need a highlight reel of botched dangles), and, yes, illegal checks to the head.

He hasn't even been doing the one thing I thought we could rely on him for: being a pest and drawing penalties.

Honestly, I thought Kadri was playing well in the second game. Playing a physical game and being engage. Thought he might turn the corner and be playoffs Kadri. We’ll never know now.

Everyone seems to forget he turned the Puck over in Game 7 vs Dallas to tie the game
