Kadri

Addition by subtraction at this point. Suspend him for as long as you want NHL.

Tonight confirmed the fact that he'll be exposed in the expansion draft in my opinion. Seven forwards who are more valuable than Kadri are: Mack, Rants, Landy, Bura, Nuke, Jost, and Donskoi. Seattle go ahead and take him.

Time to revisit this thread.

Kadri needs to sit. He is going to cost us a game or a series with his boneheaded plays and is offering nothing offensively.

That hit will likely draw a multi game suspension.

It's time to put Newhook as the #2 center and have Soderberg replace him on the 4th line.

For the record, I never want to see Kadri on this team again. Expose him to Seattle. Good riddance.

Landeskog- Mackinnon- Rantanen
Burakovsky- Newhook- Donskoi
Saad- Jost- Donskoi
Soderberg- Bellmare- Compher

There is not a chance in hell Bednar puts Newhook in at 2C. Newhook had 7:07 minutes in the first game and 6:40 in the second. Newhook's number one issue at the moment is he is getting pushed around. He needs to adapt to the physical play of the NHL.

Obviously not a good hit. But **** the blues for acting like their headhunting wasn’t building to a play like that eventually happening. Awful to see a guy go down like that but the way this series has gone I’m just glad it wasn’t G or Makar getting their head taken off.

This play has just made it easier for Joe to trade Kadri and find a replacement. I didn't think Joe would actually consider it because he's pretty loyal to the players, but Kadri is making it mighty appealing.

I'm sick of Kadri. He has done nothing. He has given up. 4 points in his last 22 games. No goals in his last 19 games. Is this a 2nd line center on a playoff team? That's not even 4th line player statistics.

It's not even that he is Snake bitten. When was the last time he even had a scoring chance.

Bednar has tried multiple wingers and his game hasn't changed. Which is weird because at one point this season that 2nd line was dominant.

Regardless, he is a massive anchor right now and needs to sit. Indefinitely. Jost is not a 2nd line center either. Bring Newhook up and see what he has.

Landeskog- Mackinnon- Rantanen
Burakovsky- Newhook- Donskoi
Nichushkin- Jost- Soderberg
Compher- Bellmare- Sherrod?

The chip on his shoulder has clearly vanished. This the most passive he's played in his entire career; no jump, no fire. I really think his heart and mind are in Toronto

It's been a rough year, outside of one white-hot stretch.

Kadri's a player who definitely gets down on himself when he's struggling, tries to do too much, and the boneheaded plays increase five-fold. I expect next year he'll return to form, considering his low shooting percentage of 7.1% (last year 14.3%, career 11.5%).

However, if Kadri has a rough go of it the rest of the way and in the playoffs, and Newhook looks ready, I say trade him before the expansion draft. Protect Donskoi, Jost, and Nichushkin - along with locks Burakovsky, Landeskog, MacKinnon, Rantanen - and try to get some draft capital or a prospect for Kadri. After all, it's extremely unlikely he's re-signed next off-season even if he is retained.

never liked him.

He needs to sit on some other teams bench.

f*** Nazem kadri. Joe has to find another 2C this summer.

It was a dirty hit, he will be suspended at most the rest of this playoff round, and he will come back for the better if they make it past the Blues. Has talked in the past about wishing he had the chance to come back and make things right after being suspended in Toronto, the difference now is that he should have the chance to actually do it this time. He’s lucky he didn’t cost the Avs game 2.

In today's NHL the hit was bad and suspendable. I'm kinda torn though. After all, it's playoff hockey, and our franchise's success in Denver was partially built on the back of Claude Lemieux and tough, physical hockey. The reason I'm torn is that I love physicality in a playoff series, toeing that line, and sometimes crossing it. It creates great rivalries. We all thought that the Blues were taking liberties in game 1, so I don't hate seeing an Avs player respond in game 2. Obviously I don't want to see anyone get hurt, and I hope Faulk ends up ok.

However, if that hit happened to MacKinnon or Makar we'd all be absolutely livid. In the end, I just think I'm frustrated with Kadri overall as a player. Not just the hit, but his overall play. The guy is an absolute liability right now and has been for a long time. I don't think the Avs will miss him when he's inevitably out of the lineup with a suspension.

Nah, this shit is indefensible, and he's setting records for all the wrong reasons.

Bottom, dispassionate line is that Kadri is not even a passenger, he's an albatross.
I'm not saying he's been good because he hasn't for like three months, however, a lot of people are coming out in full force and criticising Kadri himself as a player due to him not performing up to what we all know he's capable of by putting all of "that" blame on the hit.

Again, I am honestly not trying to sound bias, but the replays I watched showed 50/50. Now perhaps one angle is better than another, but I've seen one where it showed it got him in the head and another which should he hit the chest first. And there is a huge difference in how the DoPS issues suspensions on hits that straight target the head and ones which are follow throughs' (which do not get suspended). I can't say which one is right when they use ultra-slow motion. The final aspect I will write here is that the hit was more about poor timing than him running around and trying to headshot someone like he's Raffi Torres. Kadri has done some atricous things in the past, but I am not sure how this "one" is somehow connected to his past ones.

Disappointing. You'd hoped he'd learned, that he wouldn't go padding his reputation for your team. That he's been nearly useless this season doesn't help.

Toe drags and headshots. Nothing else in his toolbox.

Losing one of our physical although boneheaded players in physicality is a loss based on the past two games. Our players need to keep there head on a swivel even after the whistle.

I think you lot are overreacting towards the hit; really bad timing, but you can hit in hockey.

I don't think it was intentional but even the DoPS has been pretty clear that you can't pick the head with blindside hits like that.

They don't want those hits in the game anymore because they're too dangerous with the increased speed of the game. You have to find a way to hit through the body, and if you don't, the onus is on the hitter now.

What a disappointment compared to last year. I hope he is suspended but comes back eventually, maybe the extra days off will teach him and light a fire in him. We need him to play at a top six level to make a big run. Newhook is going to need to step up big time.

He just made himself unreliable.

Isn’t Kadri one of the players that the Avs were planning to protect in the entry draft?

Was it intentional? Probably not given Kadri's reaction. Was the shoulder the primary point of contact? Maybe. However, there's a reason that it's always the same players that just happen to have predatory hits like these. Just pure recklessness on Kadri's part. It's not like Kadri was playing particularly physical up to that point.

At the end of the day, unless Newhook suddenly plays 10x better, the Avs don't have a replacement and Kadri is still the Avalanche's second best C. They'll need Kadri's contributions to win the Cup so hopefully he comes back with renewed focus after his suspension and doesn't do something stupid like this again.

Hopefully Faulk makes a swift recovery. Never want to see a guy lying on the ice like that.
