This seems a bit low. Maybe the rangers could use this contract to lower the cost on other signings though. Kakko took $1m/yr. do you really think you’re worth 6x him?
If he and Laf decide to erupt in the next few years, the Rangers are probably going to need to buy out some contracts. Idk what he's going to get, but I know we haven't seen the best of Kakko. Not nearly. What scares me a little bit is the possibility of getting stuck if someone offers him a Kotkiniemi type contract.

Curious why they waited almost a month to decide to do surgery? Maybe they thought rest and rehab would do the trick?

How will this impact his point production?
So many fans have been on him (still are right now), however maybe this season's chronic shoulder injury has in fact, effected his play to the point where it contributed to Kakko's minimal point production. Could have even kept his confidence low. However long, 6-8 weeks, 10, 12 weeks, whatever. As long as he comes back 100%.

the fact they waited this long for surgery is a good sign (we hope). Maybe just a nagging injury that can be easily “cleaned” up

Reports indicated Kakko was ready to return to the lineup tonight. However, someone apparently snapped a photo of Panarin coming out of Kakko’s apartment this morning. :dunno:

Man, this really sucks. Hope the time off will get him back to 100%...shoulders can be tricky.
This sucks along with the possibility that we haven't seen a healthy Kakko all season. Idk, he also seems like a quiet, relatively shy kid. This has been discussed before. He could have down played how severe the pain and discomfort was that he was feeling. He might be the kind of person who doesn't want to let down his coaches, and teammates (well, I would hope). I'm sure though, the doctors were monitoring that shoulder all season. 100% health is the bottom line though. Getting back to that percentage is all that matters right now.

Supposed to be tomorrow according to this thread. It sure sounds plausible if we know he’s gonna be out another month plus
I was reading yardbarker. I don't see surgery discussed, but he's out at least a month either way. It bothers me that he was playing hockey after that Carolina game where he apparently got really banged up.

As I've said before, i think he will end up playing in Europe somewhere.
