Watching Kakko makes me wonder should we be more patient with Laf or is Laf who was pretty easily the better prospect just not going to get it because it doesn't look like we ruined Kakko.

The people who keep trying to staple Kakko on the top power play unit should explain what that would actually look like.

Who are you moving off the wall, Panarin or Zibanejad?

What makes you think he’d be any good at bumper if he were to replace Trocheck? It’s not suited for his game.

I love Kakko but I’d prefer he be our top 5v5 minute eater. He doesn’t fit on the top PP unit.

Still absolutely hate the idea of Rangers using Kakko to land Kane.

Everytime that gets brought up in trade scenarios I don’t get it.

He’s going to be a monster in his prime

Trading Kakko would be such a mistake. He’s turned into such a beast, and the points are starting to come.

If anything he should be getting PP1 time. He’s earned that right over some of our vets.

Which one? The defenseman? The two players tied for third in the league in PP pts? The player who led the league in PPG last year? The player in the bumper who plays a role that Kakko couldn't fit as a lefty? Why can't he just be a good 5v5 player and not important on the PP? That was Rick Nash's whole career. Great 5v5 player. Bad on the PP.

The way some people on this board think GG is great, maybe we can trade him for Kane.
Yeah its GG's fault that Kreider is stationary..that no one is forechecking and smashing some bodies...too many halloween parties not enough early season commitment is the issue. But GG has to be careful because heavy handed directness is his weakness.

Kakko is not bad on the PP at all. There is simply no good reason to change PP1 since it's working. When that day comes, Kakko will take care of business on PP1 no problem, but that PP structure will look different from the current setup with him as puck dominant.

GG said Kreider earned the 4th line minutes, right? Who did he put out to start OT? GTFOH.

Get Panarin off the right wall for gods sake. All he does is skate in and try to go across to Zib for the one timer, if it’s not there he curls away and plays patty cake with Fox. It works only once every 15 times .

I agree, I actually think there are too many cooks in the kitchen from a QB perspective. Foxy should be the PP QB. Bread turns into a quasi-qb out there and everything and I mean everything goes to Zibanejad. I honestly think they should completely rethink the powerplay and have a basic rule of no Zibby one timers for several games. Make them find other options, develop chances in other ways.

I also don't hate mixing up the powerplays. It doesnt have to be one monster unit getting all the time. You could make a 1A and 1B unit that split time and bring different options to the table.

Respectfully, Panarin leads the NHL in PP assists right now. He’s #3 behind McDavid and Huberdeau in PP assists since 2019-2020, and he’s always played the wall.

One goal every 15 times he curls sounds like a great percentage.

Are you insane? You really expect Kakko to outperform Panarin off the wall?

I'd like there to be more than ONE shooting option on the powerplay. Crazy idea i know but give it a chance. IIRC in 2019-20 Panarin was in Zib's spot and the PP was dank af. Panarin can shoot or pass from there, Zib can be in the bumper for the quick one timer/tip or be up top with his heavier shot since he's the only one on the team who can score from distance. Its been done before. And most teams around the league have a LHS opposite a RHS in the circles.

I was listening to a podcast that just talked about it.

Absolutely hate the idea

Podcasts that aren't run by people who are our equals as fans usually run about 6 months behind the times even at their best.

Panarin has a great one timer himself. When he first got here wasn’t he on the left side in more of a shooters role? We looked way more dangerous back then.

The Rangers don't have enough shooting options on the PP yet they have 3 guys in the top 20 in 5v4 shot attempts/60. Not sure how that works.

When was the last time he used it on the PP, right or left side? Don't think I've seen it once this season come to think of it...

Considering we had our best power play in decades last season with the current setup, this is debatable. But yes, the current look might be getting a bit stale.
