Why is it clear Mika and Kreider together isn’t best for the team? They’ve put up their best career years together. They also roll on PP and PK together so line dispersement is easier. I’m not necessarily against trying different line combos, but I don’t understand why it’s clearly a bad thing.
Because Ck is a terrible passer, and while he does well when he’s hot with Mika, when he’s cold, he absolutely disrupts the flow of a line.
He’s a straight n/s player, Mika isn’t. Kakko isn’t. Laf isn’t. Panarin isn’t.
Kreiders best possible center is probably trochek.

I'd like to see Kreider with Chytil first.

LAF or Panarin with Mika.

They’ve all had short bursts together. Chytil works well w ck, but if we’re really gonna see Chytil take a big step, Panarin is the wing or choice.
If we’re gonna see Ck play to his strengths, trochek is the center he needs.

Suit jacket needs some tailoring imo. It looks like a kid who's used to wearing baggier comfortable clothes and negotiated with his new GF to go with this one, more fitted but not quite enough lol. Next time she'll get him to go fully slim fit-sharp, and will repay him for it later that evening.

When Kakko gets his full man strength he will be impossible to knock off the puck and will be regularly taking it to the slot. Rn, he's a bull along the boards when he starts with a foot of space, soon even when he gets the puck and can smell his opponents breath they won't be able to take the puck from him.

It's about a 5 or 5.5 on the Henke Eurofit-O-Meter.

I think we can finally stop saying things like this. He's not an 18-year-old boy anymore... As much a Sam and Joe want to rave about how much confidence he's gaining, which is all well and good, I think it's time to admit he is like a better Marcel Hossa-type, like somebody once said here, and at the time I didn't get it.

He's not suddenly going to start floating like a butterfly and putting up 2, 3, 4 pt. games. He is as strong as is going to be at this point and probably as good this is going to be, which is not bad at all.

I agree. He is completely done growing as a player at 21.

Come on man (Biden voice).

I think the only thing that's clear is that Kakko keeps getting better every season. It's all well and good to hedge, but the only thing we don't know is the future. He's a kid with a ton of skill, a long pedigree, and a consistent upward trajectory.

Just look at the U-turn this board made on Chytil since the playoffs started. I personally wouldn't be so quick to decide this kids cieling at this point, especially offensively, because we're only about 12 games deep into him even seeing the ice time and role of a top6 scorer--and even still one without power play time.

Looking at Val Nichusking, I refuse to believe that "this is what it's going to be" with Kakko. Things can improve, even later into the years. Nichuskin said, that he basically started to really work on his shot only after he came to Colorado and saw what MacKinnon is doing. His shot improved dramatically in one summer.

Physical growth probably will be maxed, natural skill will probably maxed at 21. Technique can be improved until you retire. That applies to shooting, skating and a lot of other things.

21-22 years old and has full man strength??? Forget skating balance and strength which improves through mid 20’s…sounds like you are assuming he’s peaking at 20 like elite generationals such as Crosby or Ovechkin. Most players keep improving on an annual basis through 24-25, especially power forward types. Why are you discussing multi point games which no one mentioned- how about 60-70 points and a driver of possession? If you think he’s peaked ok; but he’s improved every year until now, why is 21 the cut off?

Or Chytil. Play 20-72-12. That’s a fast north-south line. Gives Gallant another trick. Zig and zag the opponent.

20-21-12 looked awful for their brief stint. I wouldn’t mind seeing that line. It’s too bad our depth is trash.

I like Goodrow centering Reaves and Blais. Give Gallant a crash line. If Goodrow moves up, I’d think Rydahl is good there too.

He's easily been the best forward after the big three (Panarin, Zib, Tro). Until he starts producing the Marcel Hossa comparisons will linger though, and understandably so.

Seriously. There is so much more to the game than what you are talking about. Start with chemistry, anticipation and instinct. Its amazing that coming off a 50+ goal scoring season (60 if you count the playoffs) that you are so quick to start complaining again. Last year all the CK haters (yeah the ones that wanted to trade him prior to the season last year) had to eat crow. So this year because he has only gotten off to a decent start the discontents are at it again. You want to discuss what is really lacking so far with this team. Look at the 3 and 4 lines and fact that we are lacking speed. That is why I wanted a guy like Motte resigned. Instead you watch guys like Reeves and Carpenter skating like they are in mud.

And we did eat crow. He played great last season. Now are you going to be doing the same if Kreider keeps playing like garbage?

No, I realize yo;ou all very well may be right. I feel like, covid rookie year or not, if a guy isn'ti producing 3 seasons in... but Nichushkin, I know... times are changing, our minds don't always. I still hope.
