His puck control has been elite so far, he isn’t getting knocked off the puck as much and smaller defenseman really struggle to handle him. Hopefully it’s starts translating to points and maybe he can start shooting a bit more, sometimes he possesses the puck to the perfect area in the slot but hesitate to shoot.

He's doing great, really facilitating the play in the offensive zone. Would like to see him improve on getting inside when he comes out from those corners. Throwing it back to the point is good, though, keeps the play moving.

Kakko couldve have like 4 assists last night, and i really thought he was going to win it in OT.

He doesnt even need much space to hold onto the puck, but 3 on 3... its like hes swimming in a pool by himself
The one where he threaded it through the crease to a crashing Lindgren infuriated me. It was tape-to-tape 4 ft away from an open net and somehow Lindgren let it get under his stick.

That is the next step in his evolution for sure. If he starts to get on the inside more often and can rip shots on net not only will he score more but it will open up even more seams because defenders are gonna have to respect him cutting in and firing. Right now he's still settling for just maintaining possession or looking to make the seam pass to someone backdoor.

Very frustrating that he's not getting rewarded for his great play.
I was thinking about putting that on my post as well.
But then I thought the most important thing is how good he is looking, how he seems to be taking steps into the right direction.

Rather have him look good while being unlucky than look bad and be lucky.
If he keeps this up the points will start to come at some point and then he’s off and never looking back

When did we ever see him make a move like this as a rookie/2nd year player?

I think he's gotta take some dirty shots sometimes. He really wants to wait until there's a clear shooting lane so he'll delay and deke and run out of time, but maybe sometimes it's worth just firing the puck even if it gets blocked. Sometimes you get lucky, and he could use a little luck.

gotta be frustrating for him to not be getting the points but overall there's little I think that he should change.

I think that might have been defended...defenseman got his stick on the puck or lindgren's stick. It was a perfect pass though and one of those "how did that not go in"

Kakko definitely needs to shoot the puck more. Contrary to this boards opinion he doesn't have and had never had a muffin shot. He's got very heavy shot, one that probably won't score from distance much, but can be very difficult for goaltenders to control. Hes a gifted passer but he's not Artemi or mika or Lafreniere in that regard. He doesn't have that eyes in the back of his head, or the touch to get a pass that he telegraphs or defenses are prepared for.

But I'm very happy with his progression offensively. As people have pointed out, he's keeping the puck on his stick more and more and wants it in more and more places in the offensive zone. Kreider and Zibanejad are both learning how to play off of him and respect his abilities. But that's definitely a line that shouldn't be trying to play like Artemis line. They'll get there.

You know how children emulate adults by watching and studying?

Adults who play clean have children who play clean.

"Who taught you how to play this way?"

"You, alright! I learned it by watching you!"

Pass had a drop too much zip for Lindgren to handle while cutting in at high speed, that's why Lindgren is a stay at home defenseman. Fox likely has no trouble getting that in the net.

I just want him to shoot more. Yes even when he makes an elite pass because people aren't ready for it
I think they’ll get used to it, too. The young guys are evolving so quickly it’s going to take their teammates a little time to adjust. I think that’s part of the slow start and general lack of synch on offense.
