No, I realize yo;ou all very well may be right. I feel like, covid rookie year or not, if a guy isn'ti producing 3 seasons in... but Nichushkin, I know... times are changing, our minds don't always. I still hope.
Nichuskins the poplar example but even the core of our team, our best players at every position not only improved throughout their twenties but weren't star level players until they were older than Kakko is now, in some cases much older. When it's a number 2 pick I understand the expectation is a faster trajectory, but that's why sp many of us have harped on usage and opportunity. Top picks generally get that, remove those cirumstancrs and it shouldn't surprise that they're not producing the same as those peers. To this day stutzle for example has not significantly outperformed Lafreniere in anything but pp points, second assists, and toi. But everyone's sold that stutlzes the better player and will continue to be so. It may turn out the case but I just think it's too early.

Would be nice to see Kakko get PP1 minutes over Trocheck. I've been following Kakko's progression since his World Championship domination. This season, the majority of the time that he has the puck he's creating chances and showing flashes of stardom. When is Gallant going to finally give him that opportunity, if it was up to me he'd already be there (thankfully it's not).

The only spot for him would be on the Right half boards which would require moving Panarin back to the left and ZIbanejad back to the bumper. I also don't know if Kakko is enough of a shooting threat because if he's not then teams can cheat towards ZIbanejad who they want shooting the puck. I don't think it's gonna happen

Sorry but Garage Clothing in Brooklyn has the best suits. Kakko should go there

It's about a 5 or 5.5 on the Henke Eurofit-O-Meter.

As much as I would love to see Kakko get more opportunity, flipping him into the bumper for Trocheck or re-arranging the power play to put him on the wall would be a terrible hockey decision. Trocheck is excellent in that role. Kakko’s game would not fit well there. You can’t move Panarin or Zibanejad. Our PP design is currently optimal.

Laf would be a better fit at bumper, but Trocheck is by far the best fit. Panarin is a feeder, Zibanejad the shooter. Having a right shot in the bumper as Panarin looks across makes a big difference.

Place him on the top power play
Then PP1 would have to be reconstructed completely. PP1 is great as long as they keep the puck moving with tempo and go down low every so often as we saw in this game. Having said that, it was great to see Kaapo step in and take a shot on PP2 at least, finally a new idea other than Kakko to Tuba for Big Blast (Wide). PP2 needs to be a real PP with puck movement to keep the kids growing.

As someone who was pro Kakko and anti GG before it was cool, I feel vindicated this season. I wish I could enjoy it, but GG gives Kakko 16 minutes and no OT time when he’s the best player on the ice. Then we lose. Makes being right less fun.

Lmao people here actually watched him in the PO's and thought he was a bust. No need to gloat, they can see who this kid is turning into and that's gotta make them feel dumb enough.

I was told numerous times here how this kids gonna be a loser and Vitali Kravtsov was going to run him this season.

Woof.
