He seems like an obvious PK candidate to me. He put on a takeaway clinic last night. Truly amazing to watch him come away with the puck so regularly in these 50/50s.

See, normally if you go one on one with another player, you got a 50/50 chance of winning. But Kakko is a genetic freak and he is not normal! So you got a 25%, AT BEST, at beating him.

He's really learned how to use his leverage and his body positioning to steal pucks but also once he takes it away to protect it. Great to watch and it's so key to maintaining offensive zone possession for his line.

Kakko only has 28 shots in 15 games. That's a big reason why he doesn't put up points. He needs to develop more of a shooting mentality.
He still lacks confidence in his shot.

He and laffy both have a lack of offensive confidence and it is easy to understand why based on how they are generally deployed and utilized as the grinders and board work guys on their lines

Am I the only one who thinks he took few steps back after the kid line was put together again. I think you could see more dominant plays from Kakko when he was playing with Zib and Kreider.

The whole line hasnt consistently clicked yet like they did in the POs
I think Laffy's play is the major reason
Hopefully he starts finding his game again this raod trip

Another good game. Could’ve had three.

16:47 all 5 on 5 (more than Mika’s line)

Sammy said Kakko hit the post on that patient wrap around waiting for an opening but it was actually stopped by Peterson with the glove.

They didn’t show this angle on the MSG feed. It was going in

Wow! I missed that. 9 out of 10 times, that goes in. I've never seen a goalie recover from that far out of position.

But it begs the question: should Kakko have tried to force it in earlier, albeit from a worse angle? As I said, 9 out of 10 times, that should be a goal, right?

You would think. Kakko shows a goal scorers patience with the puck, but sometimes it’s too much. Even on the breakaway he overhandled it.

If you look at how he’s improved his defense in year 2, overall play in year 3, puck possession and ability to get more scoring chances thus far in year 4, you would think/hope that his finishing ability would be the final thing to come around by year 5

I’ve said it for a while this kid ages slowly like a wine. He’s only 21. Keep having to remind ourselves. By the time he’s Fox’s age he’ll be in his 7th season
