Wonder why they gave up on him. All these guys we added are very young.
From what I hear on HFBoards(so take that into consideration): He has not shown enough in his time with Minny up from the minors to show he has the flashes for being an NHL scoring forward. Also lacks consistency.

You know, the normal things for a young prospect to be dealing with.

He needs time with Boston to learn how to fit in at the NHL level and get some experience while growing his game. With our roster it looks like he will get it.

The REAL question that I think we should be debating here is: Who does he play with to get the experience?

Not sure Lindholm is that guy from the one game we've seen so far, too early to tell?

Ceiling is lower but Sweeney has typically done a good job with trades like these, e.g. Haula for Zacha and getting Kastilec as a "throw in".

Hope it works out - good bottom 6 players are important.

Should have just kept Boqvist, they seem like similar players ... hoping for the best but if Merkulov is too small what chance does Marat have? he is quicker, so hopefully that translates to a higher upside.

I don`t see Merk as being too small, the samples I have watched are of a player not super invested to get his nose dirty but again, I want to see Merk with minutes playing alongside players with skill

Both Ty Anderson and Dom pointed out in their respective podcasts that Minny was doing a lot of deployment of him in the defensive zone. Taking defensive zone draws. Etc.

Not really where his skillset appears to lie. Opportunity is going to be the name of the game and there should be a lot of it as long as he earns it.

Im very optimistic about him. Also his first interview left me feeling like hes one of those guys with an infectious personality. I dare compare him to Pasta in that regard.
