That is the new Peter Forsberg if you can Dream ,can't wait for the home opener against Winnipeg

For your New Yorkers is their Another Buzz for hockey in the city this summer?

If the Rangers win 5 cups in a row and the Knicks, Yankees and Giants are bottom teams for the next 5 years, the majority of people in NY still won't get excited for hockey

Ok has there ever been a time period Rangers could compete with any of the other 3 big sports in the city?

I’m assuming it means he won’t count against the 50 if he doesn’t play in the NHL. As we learned with Duclair, it’s possible to be exempt from the 50 if you don’t play in the NHL even if you’re not eligible for a slide, so that’s likely why there’s two different icons.

But the icon isn't on any other players not in the NHL. So I'm not sure if there is something 'special' abou kakko aside from listing him on the main roster before he makes the team

If he plays in Europe, his contract won't count against the 50 limit. It's probably just temporary until he actually comes over and plays.

wow, those bonuses seem fair. I just have no clue where we are getting all this cap space from. Especially if Kravtsov signs a similar deal.

Kravtsov is already signed his bonuses are $850k per year

Kravtsov's deal includes 850k in performances bonuses. Those might just be the schedule A bonuses.

It's extremely unlikely that Kakko will earn all or even most of his bonuses. The A bonuses are doable, but the B bonuses will be really hard to achieve.

Kaapo Kakko #24

No. Maybe in the roaring twenties ?!

Definitely no jerseys/merch all over the city until game day when the Long Island/westchester/jersey ranger fans come through.

The last 31 Thoughts podcast of the season was released late last night. Jeff Marek said one team had a different top 3 on their list.

1-Kakko
2-Dach
3-Hughes

It’s towards the end of the podcast after the Kadri interview.

Aye, the closest thing to Forsberg since Forsberg. If he really reached those heights as a player, with that nasty shot of his that would be truly something special. I really hated the the Peter Pan so bad back in the day that it almost caught up with how much I respected the man with what he brought in the rink. Was so young when Forsberg was still playing in Sweden that I can't even remember all that well, but I don't think he was as physical at the same age. It took him some time to really build up the frameworks. That is if my memory isn't playing tricks on me. Anyway I do think Kakko could at least come close to what he was if all things went well. Then again if Kakko is as raw as he looks, who's to tell where his ceiling might be.

Really really happy he ended up in the Rangers, truly. Finland's have had two close calls as far as the 1st overall picks are concerned and both times I just felt delighted it never happened. I still do think the NJD made a grave mistake though but I guess we'll see about that soon enough.
