CapFriendly shows the bonuses at 2.65 mil. I wonder what got left off. Assuming that number is correct, of course.

Not sure why they would short it $20k, but nothing got "left off"... the first $850k is always the same (A bonuses), then the rest is split among the remainder (B bonuses). But the criteria for both A and B are always the same.

I think we're likely looking at full payout for the A bonuses. The B bonuses are much harder.

Hopefull they put him in a position to succeed right away. Playing on a line with Panarin and Zibanejad would be an interesting look.

can't believe we signed him for 3 years before he even plays one NHL game

The up to $2 million in Type B bonuses are very tough to hit. Up to $212,500 for Calder voting and then the rest are stuff like:
  • Top-five finish in Hart, Selke, or Rocket Richard voting
  • Top-three finish in Lady Byng voting
  • Conn Smythe win
  • Being named to the NHL’s first or second All-Star team
  • Finishing top ten in the league in goals, assists, points or points per game

Would they announce his jersey number before he "makes" the team? Like don't you need to at least get through camp with the pretense that he is competing for a spot like all the other rookies?

Couldn't he have waited until 24th?! Now that would have made this day memorable. Kids these days, so much hurry...

Hughes is on pace to win the Mattias Tedenby award for ripping up a non contact quarter rink 3 on 3 tournament!!

Best part of all of that BS yesterday was the beat writers going nuts over this between the legs pass Hughes made which went directly to a player on the other team. So much bias, and these writers have never played a second of hockey so they are salivating over him like I've never seen. Truly funny.
