I think it will be an awesome position to be Kakko and Kravtsov. You play well, you get to play with Panarin and Zibanejad. Hopefully those kids embrace this "race".

You can count on one hand the number of players younger than Kravtsov who are better than him. This will light a fire under Kravtsov (as if he needed one).

CapFriendly listed Kaapo Kakko jersey #45
Is that a placeholder? Or will that number stick?

So the Rangers can exceed the cap due to performance bonuses by 7.5% of the upper limit ($6,112,500). For any of the bonuses that are hit and exceed the cap, would that money count towards the following season's cap?

It's been so long since we've had this issue I don't even remember how it goes.

yes if the exceed the cap and need to carry over the bonus toward next year that $$ would act as 'dead' cap space next year

capfriendly has updated his contract info and now when you look at the rangers page, kakko is marked with the expected icons for ELC, slide eligible, performance bonuses and waiver exempt...but there is one i've never seen been "Player is exempt from the 50 stanard player limit" ?? anyone know what thats about?

ok i'm assuming its cause its slide eligible so it doesn't count until he plays 11 games...but never seen that icon before

so i was wondering why kakko's bonus was $2.65 mil instead of the max $2.85 mil. rangers certainly wouldn't care about 200k more...and then noticed this.

going back to 2013, every 1st overall pick has gotten $2.85 mil. every 2nd overall pick has gotten $2.65 mil with the exception of Jack Eichel who got $2.85 mil

Have you hiked up to the cave yet?

It's so vast up here, the caves, the hidden beach. Bittersweet that it's so historically rich, yet absolutely awful because I believe this is the point of sale of the isle of Manhattan from the natives to the Dutch.. Ugh.

I’m assuming it means he won’t count against the 50 if he doesn’t play in the NHL. As we learned with Duclair, it’s possible to be exempt from the 50 if you don’t play in the NHL even if you’re not eligible for a slide, so that’s likely why there’s two different icons.

wow, those bonuses seem fair. I just have no clue where we are getting all this cap space from. Especially if Kravtsov signs a similar deal.

Cap hits based on performance bonuses can carry over if the team doesn't have the cap space at the end of the season
