This guy needs to realize he’s not a good player, get back to basics and just do his job

I really don’t know why Keefe played him at the end, was it to boast his confidence or just don’t trust Lilly.

I wonder if they are playing him so much to not hurt his value. I think teams know Holl is a bottom pair dman but are the leafs playing him so much to convince some team he’s a top 4 dman?

I thought Holl was a serviceable guy last year and his criticisms were over the top. I'm convinced at this point he regresses more each game played. Dude is not NHL caliber, simple.

If they are playing him to up his value, it is back firing. Either dump him or hope he and Muzzin can find their games again.

What is Keefe seeing in this guy that I'm not? Another brutal game, the first goal was entirely on him if not more and he always seems to be out there in critical situations.

When the team acquires his replacement, I think we're at the point where he will be moved without concern for receiving anything in return. Really the time is now for shopping for this replacement. The team was using 2 AHLers out there tonight and it just about burned them. Plus the holiday trade moratorium is coming up soon.

Are there any other options in the AHL? Biega can go in for Holl but they can't continue with Rubins. Dahlstrom has similar foot speed issues to Rubins. It's way too early for Kral.

The idea that Holl was never serviceable is foolish and nothing more than jaded fans trying to get in an “I told you so.” Last year, both via the eye test and numbers, Muzzin-Holl was a very effective shutdown pairing. After Holl slowed down after a hot start the duo was still very good and a key reason the Leafs ranked so high in most defensive metrics.

The fact that Holl is now playing terrible and Muzzin has struggled does not invalidate last years results. It’s on the franchise now to adapt, which is unfortunately more difficult than we’d like it to be given the injuries to Sandin and Dermott. It should be crystal clear now though that when everyone is fully heathy Holl is not one of the top 6 defensemen on this team.

Rubins has his worst game and guess who was beside him? Muzzin has looked horrible and guess who has been his most common partner? Muzzin has looked good in some games and guess who wasn't his partner?
Holl is still an NHL d man but he should be a #7 on this team. Sheldon get with the program.

They should've traded him when he still looked like a somewhat serviceable top 4. Or just let Seattle take him off our hands.

I think it’s the player type that’s important not specifically Justin Holl. So he’s going to get a lot of chances and play time.

maybe send him to the marlies to work on his game and build his confidence back up

Probably the best thing for all parties. He has so many things he has to work on right now to get himself back to where he was at least a serviceable defenceman. He's regressing by the game and there really isn't a plausible reason for it. His positioning right now is absolutely diabolical. I suppose some could argue that he's always been bad, but I don't think he's ever been this out to lunch.
