Maybe, but he can surely block most if not all trades by creating a trade list that has teams with no reasonable options for him or the team. If I were him and his agent making a list (without regard to where I'd like to live) to have the best chance of make the NTC a NMC, I'd list:

Tampa (no cap)
Toronto (no cap)
Nashville (no need)
Washington (division, no cap)
NY Rangers (division, no cap, no need)
NY Islanders (division)
Columbus (division, no need)
Pittsburg (division, no cap)
Buffalo (no need)
Boston (no need, no cap)
Philly (division, no need)
St Louis (no cap, no need)
Calgary (no cap)
Vegas (no cap)
San Jose (no cap, no need)

Build a realistic trade with one of those teams that has us shedding cap space and getting something meaningful back without getting fleeced.

But how does that benefit Faulk? Maybe he frustrates Carolina and stays, but the well is certainly poisoned, and he's not getting an extension from us.

It all depends on what Faulk wants. If what he really wants is to make it as difficult as possible for Carolina to trade him, he can do that. But in the end, he *will* get traded, and it could be into an even more unfavorable position for him than staying here, so what did he really manage to accomplish by being spiteful? I mean, in your example, we can trade Faulk to Ottawa for two draft picks, and Faulk looks like an idiot. Let's see him build value there. He can also use it geographically, to stay out of cities he doesn't want to play in, but again, that leaves a lot of bad options for him, in terms of his next contract.

Although what you say is certainly possible, what makes more sense for Faulk is to use his limited NTC in an attempt to get an extension done. His long-term security should be his No. 1 concern, and if what we're hearing about him negotiating an extension with ANA is true, that seems to be the way he's headed.

What he gains from a list like mine is control. He is not going anywhere he doesn't want to go because the options he gave the team are not realistic options unless the team cuts off its nose to spite its face. Sure, they could pay one of those teams to take him...some certainly would find a way if rewarded to do so...but the Canes management is not going to do something like that. Instead, they would do what they did with Faulk and Ferland last year and just get the value they have in him already.

What was the stat that was posted last night? His Goals per 60 mins played over the past few seasons is literally on par with Ovi?

If you're telling me his playmaking ability is better than his goal scoring ability, and his goal scoring ability has been proven to be THAT....

That's just what I've read, but I don't watch west coast games. I never heard of this brohan until yesterday
