yes I watch every game, limited skill set which he needs to expand, my opinion is he can expand it with more time and space in AHL, I have no problem with giving him more time in the NHL as its the majority opinion here, but if we get to the point in the future where its discussed, just know people wanted it earlier, if he goes on and doesnt need it then you win, no biggie, amazing how personal people can take opinions
He could have, and should have played in the A last year..............water under the bridge for me........
Habs have played 4 games, and he has been pretty solid, and has some very good moments...
It's a process.....he is no Crosby or McJesus............
We did pick the wrong year to win the lottery, but the kid is going to be good, give him some time.

It’s been the conversation since the draft, this new 10 game benchmark feels quite arbitrary. Pure eye test though, if he keeps improving like he has been he’s doing great. I’d be more worried about his confidence as a result of not producing more so than the production itself, and you hear the org talk about it so not worried.

Heck 4 games without a concussion or his straight-legged “deer in the head light“ look he got all the time last year when not sure where to go is a noticeable improvement in itself ;)

Mixed bag for me so far.

I have been wowed by the preseason and the first game. On my appetite for the last three games.

I am one two points game away from being excited again.

Only 4 games but i think its okay to wish for more right now.

He’s playing well. I just wish they’d give him a shot on the top PP. He obviously brings a lot more than Anderson with the man advantage.
Don't you understand that Anderson is being developed?

It's one of the things that annoys me with MSL, he seems to be spending more time developing the vets than the kids.

We should do regular check-ins at intervals. It's maddening to go shift-by-shift or game-by-game. A good prospect doesn't benefit from such scrutiny anyway.

Slaf had some Slovak fans in the stands tonight.

I was at the game and they were near me. Everytime he stepped on the ice, they started chanting his name, and every like 5 minutes they tried really hard to start a wave lol they were great! And like 40 people too lol. Some of them were dressed in a traditionnal outfit (I guess?) They were chanting and dancing after the game too haha great bunch of people :)

I definitely need more shots on net Slaf
Come on bud
Gotta let em rip once in a while, he's trying to pass way too much

I feel like when we wanted KK to shoot more, or at least get his shot off faster..
Slaf seems to not even be at that point yet which is slightly concerning

We might have given up on KK 3 years too early. I'm just looking at production here ad I don't watch the Canes. Obviously very early yet but it's his best ever start.

So let's give Slaf time.

There are so many examples of guys who took time. Zibenejad failed to reach 0.5 ppg until his 21 year old season. He didn't truly break out until he was 25. KK is 23 now and looks like he could be taking the next step up. Olli Jokinen didn't hit 30 points until he was in his D+6 season when he got 65. Radek Bonk had a career high of 35 pts in his first 5 seasons before he broke out for 60.

All of these guys have some things in common. They are all 6'2 or bigger, come from European ice size, and were drafted no later than 6 overall. 3 of them did not break out for the teams that drafted them (Zibby, KK, Jokinen) , while Bonk was able to.

These are just a few examples of what can happen, obviously everyone is unique and Slafkovsky's development will be his own, but giving his career a script after 1 or 2 season is silly. There are lots of players who take time.

It was incommensarubly stupid to draft KK ahead of Tkachuk.

It was even more stupid to let him go for a f***ing 1 year offersheet overpayment.

Canes locked him through his prime for 5M AAV jfc and paid a late 1st for that.

MB could not do nothing, really. KK wanted out BIG TIME !

If Slaf still struggles to put some points on the board in the next 10-15 games, they should send him down to Laval.

He wanted out big time because our coach was a complete idiot who was fortunate enough to have had a horseshoe fired up his ass and got to the Finals.

He did not like the MTL media attention either. That Carolina offer - even if we all know it was a revenge for the offer to Aho - was a golden opportunity for KK to run away.

Why was that? Why was KK wanted out? 'Cause he was treated like shit. 'Cause they didn't take time with him so that he didn't feel as if he was already arrived.

Being in a team with know it all Bergevin and Cie, I would have wanted out too.

MB could have matched the offer sheet and improve his relation with his fomer top picks.
It was too late. KK jumped on the generous offer that was bringing him far away from MTL. I am sure there was no hesitation. And MB had no cap space to sign KK at 6,1 M $, Carolina knew it. And DD was still around as head coach. No chance at all. KK had some personal issues to fix himself. Brind'Amour took two full seasons to put him on the right track.

And KK, like Danault, knew that Price and Weber were gone and the chances to repeat a SC run was next to impossible with who was left.

I didn’t like Slaf’s game last night at all.

Wastes puck touches like tissue paper. Is always thinking pass. Never thinks of taking the puck to the net. Never drives the net. Never cuts to the slot to shoot. A typical puck possession for him is circling close to the boards until he loses puck possession.

Is he good enough to be a plug in the NHL right now? Sure. Are my standards way too high for a 19 year old kid in his second NHL season? Probably.

The guys who take their time and reach their potential in their mid 20s is more likely the norm, regardless of size.

The guys who are stars right off the bat are the exceptions, not the rule.

Leapords don't generally change their spots.

If anything, had we matched, MBs pettiness likely would have only further soured his relationship and treatment of the player
Had we matched KK, it wouldn’t have changed anything with the team. They still would’ve crashed and a new management team would’ve been brought in before Bergevin himself and Ducharme could’ve caused any long term damage much like with Caufield. I think KK would’ve really struggled here tho due to the poor talent he would’ve been playing with and our fans would’ve likely soured on him if anything. That contract would’ve done him no favours with expectations either.
