He’s the only player with Newhook who actually try plays and looks good tonight.

But he’s of course getting shit on.

Not saying he's the worst player, but who cares about the team.

We're gonna suck this year and injuries are already killing us.

What is the point for Slaf to be here?

Let the kid develop.

Because he earned it based on being one the best 9 Fs in the org.

And he may just benefit from practicing with n against NHL talent and the extra resources thr pro club has more access to for development than AHL club has? I know they are in close proximity but he gets more access in Montrezl to the staff.

I don't care if he's the best option right now, I am worried about his long term development over if we finish 30th or 25th this year.

NHL is not a development league but I guess we'll see.

He needs to play in pissed-off mode more often. That's the player they drafted, alright.

He needs to think less and just do - he's still learning and still adapting to the lack of space and much faster pace of the NHL.

Agree.

He actually looked good in the 3rd period when he tried to do some things/create himself, he should be more confident in his abilities. But not enough help tonight.

The first shift after his interference call he came out pissed-off, and looked awesome. Like he could really control a shift. Maybe he needs to start playing pissed off more. They should hire someone to piss in his corn flakes on game day.

Slaf was bad this game. He wont ever go in the middle of the ice and he has no ability to find lose pucks around the net.

After his very good game 1, were back to the usual program with him. After five bad Ill start the Laval train again.

man these good shifts, good periods... who gives?

He needs to play top minutes in the pro league, AHL just like Pacioretty did, Pacioretty cameback a better player, until he got the C and dropped the ball hard but thats irrelevant.

Man just look at this play here.. he's too slow in the head to process whats going on. The pass goes right through him... i mean shit maybe Savard was really intending to pass it to Newhook... i dont know but just watch the play a few times, he doesn't look good.

Sorry but your boy needs a ton of work

Who gives about Mesar’s good plays and good shifts in the OHL, right?

If this is a lost season, then why wouldn’t you use it as a development opportunity? Just live with the growing pains and give him 20 mins a game.

Man he clearly knows that pass isn’t intended for him at the last millisecond so he doesn’t touch it and it turns into a goal. You’ve literally taken an example of good IQ to use it against him.

He's literally trying to hit it, are we watching the same thing?

Hey if Mesar was actually given this many opportunities like this guy is i would be the first one to crap on him.

Said that, don't deviate the subject just because it doesn't suite your agenda

Have you never seen him try to one time a puck? He always puts his entire body into it. He clearly doesn’t do that here and it’s blatant that he’s not eying to touch the puck. I’d go so far as to say he’s faking out Fleury and the defender with this obvious non attempt.

It’s even more obvious watching it at 0.5x speed. Stop grasping at straws.

I literally watched that play on rewind about 10 times because of you. Lol I can see what you’re saying but the pass seems way too hard and accurate for it to be intended for anybody besides Newhook.

How about you try 0.25... maybe 0.5 is a little to fast for you (im just kidding bro, i had to make this joke, i hope you forgive me)

But in all seriousness, i did put it at 0.25 just to see and.... yeah, im now even more convinced the NHL is too fast for him.

Watch from this time 8:01 i copied the timeline for you, he's demonstrating zero self awareness on the play, he's basically a pylon in the middle starring at the puck, doesn't know where Savard is, doesn't know where Newhook is so there's no way he was not anticipating a pass for a one timer. Watch his foot work right when Savard is making the pass.

He's got no IQ, the game is too fast for him.

I can see he wants to be THE guy but he's clearly not there yet and im not sure he will ever be.

Yeah i think Savard definitely was looking at Newhook but if you see the pass seemed to be alot more risky than passing it to Slaf.

Tkachuk, Cooley, Olen Zellweger, Jake Oettinger, Michkov

KK, Slaf, Mailloux, Poehling, Rienbacher

What a difference if we had actual good scouts in the last 5 years 🤦🏻‍♂️
