Juraj Slafkovsky - Year Two

  • HFBoards is well aware that today is election day in the US. We ask respectfully to focus on hockey and not politics.

Where would you prefer Slaf spend his 23-24 season?

We literally had a bonehead that didn’t even graduate high school run this franchise for a decade. And people are suppose to feel inferior to these guys? Like I said it’s a country club so trying to hype up their credentials like you were doing does you no favours. Neither does you thinking you’re insulting me with playground insults.
Your opinion is that it is a country club. My opinion....guys that have played the game at the highest level, for their whole life, know infinitely more about hockey than I do. I am a fan. I enjoy the game. But, I would never assume I know more than those that run the teams or those that play the game.

I know one current NHL assistant coach. He has had to bust his ass to get to that point. He knows a shit ton more than I do about hockey. He never played in the show.

The self-righteousness that many of us have on these boards is truly breath taking.

There are educated guys in the NHL of course. But being a former player does not mean you will be a good coach, manager, scout, etc. I’ve worked around many pro players that get into coaching lower levels when their careers are over and there are a bunch I wouldn’t trust coaching a peewee team.

Honestly, I‘ll just go out and say getting drilled last night like that is probably GOOD for his development… barring any sort of actual injury or concussion if reported later.

Slaf has been really good about being attentive of his surroundings and using his own size to mitigate the likelihood of getting blasted since last season. Last night should just be a stark reminder that he still has to be aware of what’s around him and to protect himself.

That said, hit was a little sus in my opinion, but either way, he’ll learn from this.

That feeling when you go from Europe straight to the NHL at 18 years old:

Obviously I don't expect Caufield or Suzuki to fight Noesen..... But I didn't like the reaction of the 4 players that were present on the ice.

Someone grab him by the hair.... let them at least scratch his face...something needs to be done!
That WOLF PACK mentality I haven't seen this year.

And MR.X can't be the only one who has to always defend in those situations.....

Nor does being a former player preclude you from being an intuitive and successful coach. So far MSL has won over the dressing room and has a young and developing team playing near .500 hockey. I don’t think Toe Blake or Scotty Bowman could have done much better with the current roster.

As opposed to some, I enjoy watching this team play and seeing our younger players develop under the watchful eye of a former NHL player who overcame many hurdles to become a Hall of Famer.

I wasn’t referring to Marty St. Louis when I made this post.

This year Slafkovsky has been the crusher far more often than the crushee.

I would rather focus on Slafkovsky’s end to end rush where he powered around the defenceman to almost score a game leading goal.

But I’m a half- full glass sort of guy.

I'm a hater because I don't want Slaf to end up another Eric Lindros?

We should focus on all of it, the good and the bad (i.e opportunities to improve).

Team has been ran by imbeciles for 25 years its nice to have some forward thinking guys for once but just because the new management have post secondary education and can fluently speak 2 languages (super impressive for a habs gm) doesn't mean we have to worship them and think they are genius's lol

Lmfao people trying to use that hit to argue he should be in the AHL. After he's been one of our best forwards in the last 10-15ish games.

I just wanted to make sure he wasn't concussed but reading some takes I think I might have got one myself. Jesus, I hope those posts weren't actually serious and just wanted a reaction.

No GM/Coach in sports is worshipped unless they win a Championship and even that has an expiration date.

We're on a hockey message board, by nature we're mostly here to express our differences with those in charge of making decisions on the team we cheer for.

Rarely if ever do fans on message boards praise their GM/coach.

Yeah, players get rocked often, why should he go to the AHL because of that? What will it does?

Specifically on the hit tho, it is frustrating because Slaf is targeted (happens with the 1st overall status) but on the other hand, he have to protect himself better.

I remember Chara early in his career, because he was tall, he got rocked and rocked, incredibly rocked. Then he became himself a fuxking monster who rocked the league. Hopefully, i doubt it tho, Slaf develops a kinda nasty side and learn how to defebd himself properly. And as an organisation, how do we answer to that? We target Aho next game?

Hopefully he is not injured and takes contact better.

Anyone have a replay of when Slaf carried the pucks to the net in last games?

Cant find it
