Where would you prefer Slaf spend his 23-24 season?

are you seeing MSL play him more? he benched his ass for most of the 3rd last game and won't give him a shot on the first line because he absolutely doesn't deserve one???
Oh, he benches the 19 year old guy (along with other players) to shorten his bench in a tight game in the 3rd after he had an admittedly bad 2 periods, that's shocking. :scared:

Ehhh, if he is a 40 points player by age 25, it would be a total bust lets be honest.
Wait, you see a top scorer in Slaf? What makes you think that?
We should be happy he reaches 50 if he stays in NHL a 25. Thing is, other high pick prospects and "projects" will come , and project Slaf will slowly be put aside as years pass.
If he isnt' a 30-40 pts player in 2 years he'll be reduced to a minor role which is a right thing to do if we pick 2 more times in Top 5 ..and we will.

Jaynki you reacted to my post with laughter but like, it actually happened and I pinged people about it because of how funny it was

they were like "star cam moment, welp not his best game" and showed 3 replays of him losing the puck and I started laughing

Man I hate getting Andrei kostitsyn minus the physical play first overall. I know he's 19 but he's not going to improve playing garbage minutes and garbage hockey constantly. He's not dominated a level since he was 14 and doesn't play like a guy with high skill at all. Let him cook in the ECHL if that's what's going to let him see what he's actually capable of.

Seriously.

He's going to develop into a 3rd-4th liner at this rate.

Jaynki said he was ''on the cusp'' of a 50 point season already, and that we were all about the eat our words.

There is still 74 games, though, so ya never know.

So what does St Louis see? The same thing as us or as you? Are we going to label Marty a hater? Slaf had one shift in the third.

I will double down on this one. 50 points might be a lot.

But there is still 74 games like you said and 40 might not be out of reach, we will see.

Bro we all see the same thing. Some people just like to justify the suckage because hes a Hab.

That's a broad-brush statement. How about objective? I've never been soft on our own players just because they're our own. Objectively. He's coming along slowly. Showing signs of what he can be with more consistency. AND, he's having some very rough moments. That's what I see. I don't agree that he's "sucking". We're not a playoff team. So we have the luxury of living with his mistakes. If we were shooting for a playoff spot, we'd probably develop him differently. I see enough positives signs to be cautiously optimistic.

So basically we must go 26 and 33 years in the past to find 1OA forwards who made good career after the initial struggling?
No you just have to go back to Jack Hughes actually. Also the sample size is so small that of course you'll have to go back in time. To have a sample size of 10 (which is too small to assume anything) you have to go back around 13 years or so (cause you don't know for the last few draft yet). If you want a good sample size you kind of have to go back 30+ years.

I mean like i'm not even sure why i have to say that dunno i just said the sun will rise tomorrow morning for whatever reason. I wish people would wait to get to the bridge before crossing it. It's fine to have doubts but people should wait him to be at least 21 before making a final judgment.

So what? Did you even bother to read the post I was responding to? I didn't realize there is a time-restriction on "Can you name even one...". I didn't. I named 2. So don't have a clue what you're talking about. If you go outside of the 1OA position, you can find many, many, many more including more recent examples. Actually, Laf may be one by years end.

It's hard to stomach the fact that if we had 1OA a year later we'd have Bedard instead of Slafkovsky...hell I'd even vastly prefer 2 or 3 from the next year (Fantilli/Carlsson)

I really hope Slaf figures it out, he should have played all of last year (and maybe even some of this year, depending) in Laval IMHO.

Extremely bad luck for us Habs fans, as usual.

You mean if he gets sent down to the AHL, right?

Surely you don't think he will score 40 to 50 points in the NHL this year?

how about 4 years ago? it's specified in the post you quoted why he chose those 2 players specifically.

Oh, gawd. Read the article posted earlier to get MSL's opinion on Slaf. He's a 19 year old that had a rough game and was benched in the 3rd. Woopty-do. MSL benched several players in the 3rd. Shortened his bench, so what? Is that something unusual to you?

The coach of the Montreal Canadiens says he believes in his 19 year old player

I, too, believe it when Desjardins tells me my data is safe with them as I am immune to PR

Hes trash right now nobody can dispute that.

Aside from a few haters, the real debate is "hes fine in the NHL" and "get him in the AHL".
