Where would you prefer Slaf spend his 23-24 season?

That s my point. I meant it as he should be fine with Newhook as in „it should not be used as an excuse that Dach is not here“

Realize that if he scores tonight a lot of puppies will die throughout the year right ?
Because Dach and Newhook are totally the same type of players and brings the exact same thing… right?

I think we should trade for Conor McDavid just so we have somebody to help boost Slaf since he can’t do it himself.
Nice sarcasm, but you don’t seems to understand how the development of young players works.

You also don’t seems to understand that players needs to play with players who matches their playing style to take a step. Surprise.

1) I disagree, some people are just saying „he sucks„ and those are usually ignored, most of the time critica have a legit point of concern.

2) wrong about that : Power Beniers were not in the NHL immediately, Lafreniere is needing time to establish himself, like Kakko (2nd OA)… the draft quality is not an excuse. Prospect mostly do need time and Slaf needs this time

3) I fully agree that we should not expect the moon from him which is why I wanted him in the AHL but it s too late for that now anyways. I can only speak for myself but my issue is that I don t see the elite part to his game that so many people seem to see (esp. Hockey IQ wise) and that his shot is not dangerous at all since he is in the NHL (few exceptions last year).

As far as I am concerned I see progress, I just don t seem to see the potential so many of you see in him, which is fine it is merely an opinion :)
His shot is a mystery. He never shoots. A good shooter is 15%. But Slaf has 7 shots only this season so it’s impossible to properly evaluate it. He constantly chooses any « keep puck possession » pass outlet available over a good shot on net.

Maybe he never shoots because his shot is completely useless as some have said? I say we wait for a decent sample size before judging, which unfortunately will take forever as he shoots 1.0 shots/game.

Nope, he has a really good shot.

Not being facetious, but how would you know he can beat NHL goaltenders? There’s something extremely suspicious about the fact he never shoots and never takes the puck to the net.
Because he's beaten NHL goaltenders cleanly with shots before. If there's a criticism to be made, it's that he doesn't get his shot off fast enough, but his shot is definitely hard. There's a reason he's placed in a shooting position on the second PP.

Or maybe it's not that suspicious after all...

His high school bully was a goaltender I bet. You just wait until he loses his shit one day and breaks those shackles. Go Juraj, let go of the fear and the hatred. You show all those bully goaltenders.

Or maybe it's not that suspicious after all...
Ahead of that busto Cooley kid.

The only thing I see Slaf doing on the PP is raising his stick up then never ever shooting when given the puck. His teammates will quickly get the message if they haven’t already.

So has Michael Pezzetta..

Slaf is showing progress and soon the points will start coming.

A little patience people.

I personally could care less about the points.

He just does not look very good out there.

I don't know man, look at how Cooley is working the puck out there compared to Slaf, he really doesn't look ready for prime time.
Cooley is a centre. His game is to handle the puck more. He still has only PP points, though.
His confidence looks off. If we had a good team up here this would be a good spot for him, no doubt but I think Laval would be nice so he could play with other prospects and learn a bit.
Last place Laval?

“Blame other players?” No.

But I’ve mentioned this before, it’s a hell of a lot easier for a player to develop if he has someone to bring him along. Kirby Dach looked like the guy who could do it for Slaf. They looked great together in preseason. Dach’s injury f***ed that all up.

Slaf’s on a bad club and I think he’d be better off in the AHl at this point.
True but at the same time you have Anderson and RHP that still can't do anything even with the best forwards

that's the kind of skill you can't teach

you're born with that and its glimpses like this for why he went 1OA
Jesus that’s an insane pass.

I’ve seen him make so many deft passes that are highly impressive.

The bad stuff is there but do people just re-wire their brains after he does anything good like it never happened? lol.

It’s getting pretty bizarre

This is my point. If you’re going to keep him up you need to play him with guys who can help him develop. I think with Dach it probably would’ve worked. But he’s gone and we don’t have anyone right now. Either he plays on the first or I think we send him down.

It's not just the points that are a problem, it's how he looks out there. He's completely lost in offensive possession and is not creating chances, he never shoots the puck and he's a posession black hole. The problem is this has beeen a reoccuring problem even before the NHL. There's talent in there but he's never been a fundamentally sound player and in Finland too he had to habit of making things too complicated.

It's very easy to see the appeal but I'm not seeing any progress out there and he's not good enough for the NHL at this point. Maybe he will learn to play hockey someday but it won't be looking completely lost at this level.

Dach was on fire i agree but i find it weird that nobody can complete with Suzuki and Caufield. K guess we don't have the player we need to match them. Monahan would be good if Dach and Dvorak were healthy

I don’t know why they just don’t try Slaf there… I mean what do they have to lose?
