He’s not a generational #1, nor is he in the first tier or even second tier yet. But worst is just a hyperbole. Older posters will remember Lawton, Daigle, Stefan and Kluzak. Some of the 70s draftees are disasters. He’s better than his stats lead you to believe.
I'm curious on the second tier

I'm thinking first tier (stars and superstars)

Bedard (presumably)
Hughes
Dahlin
Matthews
McDavid
Mackinnon
Tavares
Stamkos
Kane
Crosby

That leaves

Slaf
Power
Laf
Hischler
Ekblad
Yak
RNH
Hall
Johnson

To make up tier 2 (very good NHL players), I think you could put :

Hischler
Ekblad
RNH
Hall
Johnson

In that group. I think when its all said and done Slaf and Power should hopefully be in that second tier of first overalls and not with the Lafs and Yaks. No offense intended towards Rags and Oilers fans.

He wasn't most fans' consensus pick -certainly not habs fans. But He's 19, and still growing into his body. He was injured last year and still figuring it out early this year. He admitted as much recently that it was all too fast for him.
People forget how young he is, especially those with their dumb, troll takes *see above
He has really improved significantly over the last 20 games; at a shockingly quick rate.
Personally I see him as a 35 goal, 70 pt winger who does a lot of the heavy lifting for either suzuki or Dach.
Not the greatest 1st round pick, but a legit top 6 forward with large size (6'3, 230)

I think it's pretty safe to say that Slaf is basically what Edmonton hoped out of Jesse Pulljujarvi. Or what Toronto hoped out of Matthew Knies.

These are the most accurate comparisons I could think of.

It’s too bad most folks just want to pile on the habs because it’s been fun watching Slafkovsky’s development curve. He just keeps getting better. His ceiling is hard to determine

Those type of folk will disappear eventually, there's already way less than there were this time last year. Not surprising at all. It's always the people that seem to be allergic to crow that love to run their mouth the most. Once the silver platter is served they jump to the next player to bash with their awful takes its hilarious.

Slaf just keeps on improving it's been very impressive watching him develop this year - and he's still only 19.

He's now gained confidence in his shot and has been on a scoring tear. No more looking for Caufield with cross seam passes that get picked off. You can see elements of his game improving rapidly.

It’s almost like the people who were calling him a bust are as stupid as the people now proclaiming him the next coming of Jesus
