The Rangers have a little bit of room. I'd try and sign Gibbons and Carcillo up front

I think Zucc is no more than 4M.. right around what Parenteau got when he was a UFA. 4/16 should be more than enough for (so far) a 1 year wonder.

He either overpays for guys who aren't worth the money or he overpays for complete scrubs. Where is the in between? Where are the saavy signings?

Savvy signings? What, like Anton Stralman in 2011 or Benoit Pouliot in 2013? :naughty:

I also don't see what's not to like about Dan Boyle at $4.5MM for 2 years?

Sather has actually been pretty good with the lower-profile signings, which makes sense because expectations are lower. Guys like Nylander, Prospal, Rucinsky, Fedotenko, Stralman and Pouliot have been some of his better UFA acquisitions.

Unfortunately, AV wanted no part of Manny

It's amazing that he wanted a part of Glass and not Manny.

Not exploring Skille at all completely baffles me.

Oh well, still some project names out there that we can plug into (competition for) 3C for the cheap or on a PTO.

Anyone know of Jordan Schroeder and AV had a positive history in Vancouver? I see Schroeder split the 12/13 season between Vancouver and Chicago (AHL). Minnesota kid, right-handed shot. Center. Undersized.

He also likes T Pyatt more than he should. Just sayin'

Winnik is a 4th liner, albeit a very good one. Stempniak is a 3rd liner. That hole is much bigger.

I feel more comfortable having a very good defensive, grinding 4th line and having a younger 3rd line with someone like Fast on that wing than vice versa, for whatever reason

But he kept using him. Almost to the point of ridic status.

He was rumored to be a fan of his.

I never meant to imply that we signed him under AV... I def remember the days of Torts rolling him out constantly as well. Sorry if I wasn't clear about that.

Yeah, AV liked Pyatt so much that he waived him. Pyatt only played because of injury issues.

I seem to remember him being played quite a bit at the start of the season. Including when there were better options, injuries or not.

Yes he was waived under AV, but that doesn't mean he didn't have him out there too much before that trigger was pulled.

I want to believe that we are looking for another top 6 player through trade but it is hard to see how we would accommodate it cap-wise.

Gibbons is 5-8 170. ..

Why r u advocating 4 him?

Especially with MSL and MZA?

??????

I'd like to see us take a flyer on Schroeder too. Seems like he could be a Boyle-type situation where he was drafted high, didn't pan out, but could still resurrect himself as a bottom 6 checker.

So instead, the Rangers seemingly are planning to fill their need internally, which means they would be counting heavily on lefthanded rookie Swede Oscar Lindberg, 22, to take the next step.

Lindberg finished second in scoring for the Hartford Wolf Pack in his first AHL season with 18 goals and 44 points. He was terrific at last year's Traverse City prospects tournament and showed flashes of his ability in the NHL preseason but then tailed off. This is the year, the last of his entry-level contract, to put it together.

"We've got a couple possibilities," coach Alain Vigneault said in a conference call on Tuesday. "(Third-year forward) J.T. (Miller) is one, and Lindberg is another, and there's still work to be done. (Assistant general manager) Jeff (Gorton) signed (free agent Chris) Mueller also. He's got some experience and some potential. So we've got quite a few possibilities there."

If I could suggest one name to the Rangers front office it would be Gibbons.
