I think Hayes ends up in Florida to play with his brother or Calgary to play with his former linemates Arnold and Gaudreau.
Don't see him coming to NY unfortunately.
The Blackhawks have until Aug. 15 to sign Hayes, their 2010 first-round pick. He's been eligible to sign since his college season ended in April. At this point, it's unlikely he'll sign. He wants to have the opportunity to play in the NHL immediately, and that's not possible with the Blackhawks now. They're too deep in the NHL, and there are a few AHL players who they could argue deserve more of an NHL chance than Hayes right now. If the Blackhawks don't sign him or trade his rights, they will get a compensatory second-round pick in the 2015 draft. Many believe Hayes will eventually sign with the Calgary Flames and join his former Boston College teammates Johnny Gaudreau and Bill Arnold.

There ares still some decent UFAs out there. If the organization is committed to going with kids like Miller, Fast, Lindberg, etc. that's fine. Cool.
Dan Boyle is not playing a full 82 game season. Connor Allen will see some time. McLIrath or Bodie might as well.
The issue is size and PKing. They need to address both.
Why hasn't Daniel Winnik been signed? That guy can score a little and has size. He can play either on the fourth line or higher up. He's very physical. A fourth line of Glass-Moore-Winnik actually looks decent.
What's with Legwand? He's still out there. Perfect 3C and he can skate. What are his demands?
Booth has never been the same since the horrible concussion he suffered. I'd stay away. Penner is very inconsistent. He does show up for the playoffs but he'll drive AV nuts throughout the regular season. Heatley's skating is bad and you add MSG ice to that? No thanks. Stempniak doesn't help with size at all. His time to play on the Rangers was about five years ago. Setoguchi isn't the same.
Ott would be very good. Sandpaper, can take faceoffs, and can skate. His value must be low because his time in STL wasn't a success. Give him a one year deal.
Also for PKing...who is going to PK for this team? Moore, Stepan, Hagelin, Nash, MSL, Glass, Fast, MZA? Can Miller PK? Will Lindberg? It's nice the top guys PK but over the course of a full season, you don't want to tire them out. I'vea always been a firm believer in that at least two of your fourth line guys should have specific skills and play more than 5 minutes a night so either they're going to PK or be young PP specialists. Everyone needs to contribute.
So out of process of elimination and based on the way this team plays, sign Winnik and either take a flier on Ott, or see what is up with Legwand.
Rangers don't have any cap space for Winnik and/Legwand.
If anything they save that $2 million in cap space for injury callups and trades during the season.
Barring a trade, and I don't know who'd they move, I think signing the RFA's will be the only moves left.
Ok, You get Glass and dont go after McClement who signed cheaper? Right.
Mcclement is a 4th line C while glass replaces Dorsett . He fights, hits , blocks and kills penalties
Im getting conflicting reports on how well Glass can kill penalties. According to Pens fans he isn't very good at it and shouldn't be used more than a 5th PKer.

That's not good.
So that means PKers (in no order);
1. Moore
2. Hagelin
3. Stepan
4. Nash
5. MSL
6. Fast
7. MZA
8. Glass
Only one of those guys (Moore) can actually win a faceoff on the PK.

Unless we add someone, Lindberg is going to make the team. Supposedly he's a top notch faceoff man and will likely see time on the penalty kill eventually if not immediately.
Until we pick someone up, these are our forwards (RFAs in italics):
Kreider-Stepan-Nash
Zuccarello-Brassard-St. Louis
Hagelin-Miller-Fast
Lindberg-Moore-Glass
as of now sure but they will sign a 4th liner cheap like Carcillo
Then its either Fast or a UFA..............Miller and Lindberg fight for the 3rd C spot

People are forgetting about Ryan Bourque. He could win a spot on the 4th line wing. Im not sure if he could PK effectively.
Glass is horrible. The Rangers have no money. Rangers made the playoffs by 6 points last year. Is this lineup better then last years? Personally, I don't think so.

A full year of Kreider and St Louis might make a big difference there
Other forwards we're talking about replacing...Pouliot and his 36 points, Richards scored 30 even strength points, we're not talking massive holes that can't be fixed, and the roster at the start of the season isn't the one you have to live with. The Rangers will be looking for trades
