You sound like Robert Olmstead, the main character of Shadow Over Innsmouth, in the beginning of the story.

Near the end of the story, he resigned to his fate.

We Orca fans are literally doing the best NHL re-enactment of Lovecraft's work.
i’m not familiar with the works

anything resemble my theory that we are a test planet being studied by a higher species? maybe even as entertainment? 🙃

I just think if you don't give it to Pettersson in Horvat's absence, you're basically inviting him to leave.

It's so hard to say without knowing the room or the personalities behind closed doors. That's why I said what I said in my other post. The captaincy no longer holds the same value it once did in yesteryear. It's a symbol for fans now where fans pre-select who they think should get it. It has nothing to do with who the real leader is anymore.

Bieksa in his interview on Spittin' Chiclets kind of touched on this too.

He said Jake Muzzin is the guy who runs the leafs locker room.

Also said that he went to dinner with a bunch of Flames players and Gudbranson was there, and everyone at the table looked to him to set the tone and order for them.

I made the last part up, was thinking about it's always sunny in Philadelphia.

I just find it funny all last year people were trashing Horvat saying he wasn't a good Captain and Miller should be. Now a few games into this season Miller is being absolutely trashed by those same fans.

Don't get me wrong he deserves the criticism but the quickness of the complete turn is pretty funny. I actually can't wait to see how this all ends. Its like a Mexican soap.
yea it's funny how the pendulum switches from Horvat to Miller to Horvat again. See all those comments about how the management should strip the C from Horvat and give it to Miller made my brain hurt.

honestly, for differing reasons, i believe they’re both wrong for the captaincy and both blocking petey from showing that he a- is ready to and b- wants to be the guy moving forward. never mind the assets that should have been/should be mined from bo and jt.

It was a perfect time to transition the team into being Pettersson (and Hughes) team.

Both players are the best on the team at their respective positions. I could be way off too but I've had the feeling that if you removed a big presence like Miller from the room it would make way for some of the younger guys to step up and find their voices.

i just can’t fathom following this moody, screechy man-child for eight more games, never mind seasons(including the present). like who in the hell saw that idiot edjovanovski pretty much nailing jt’s essence with that bozo thread? is this what kesler woulda been like without the sedins? 😆 ah f***, forgot that kesler knew how to defend at like 20.

As I've pointed out before, this eight year contract for Miller has Aquilini written all over it. In retrospect, the Canucks are looking absolutely foolish for not signing Horvat first.

The guy who should have played without a contract for next season was Miller--and then dealt at the deadline if it looked like they couldn't re-sign him.

Horvat was (and is) far more likely to re-sign as a UFA. Extending JT first always made more sense, he's also just the more important piece and better player, especially at the time.

I figured Bo would sign after JT, but before the season started, and for a good $ amount less.... that might be changing.. but there's a lot of season left to unfold.

Signing JT was important only if you think we are competing this year, next and the year after that.

Anyone who thinks that is not aware of where this team is at.

Yeah it's Steve Dangle, ultra leafs homer, but this was funny:

Starts around 52 min mark.

I was finally able to watch this as I am home and not at work, and if you listen to the entire Vancouver segment a lot of it makes total sense. One point they made that is the third time I have heard this, (the others being Dreger recently and 32 thoughts) is that the Canucks still intend to trade Miller. Signing him was about value and not keeping him. It really makes me wonder if that is why we are seeing this Miller who doesn't care on the defensive side of the puck. Its speculation but does make some sense looking at all information.

IMO Alvin thought selling a 99 point player would quieten the mob or he has a deal that will take time to get cap space. They sure emphasized a 99 point player a lot and not the team.

8 mil is not a great deal to some teams that are in a win now window especially if the cap goes up by 4 mil a year for the next 3 years.

And Miller not playing in a fish bowl might be much better especially if he doesn't have to be the face of the franchise, if he can just be another guy on the team.

Ask Alvin!

It's definitely possible. Especially if it was a team that would usually get skunked in free agency or might have to overpay. It's a ready made decent deal.

This would be ideal... but I'm not going to let my hopes get up.

This take is aging like bread.
No it really isn't? People are being knee jerk

If they just let him be what he is and played him LW with Bo or Petey he instantly becomes one of the best LWs in hockey.

All these takes about can't play C yet he just had 99pts and was FAR and away the teams best player at C??

Is he ideal there No? Why because he's high risk high reward and with our roster anyone playing C being the next link to a btm5 defense playing a wide gap system is gonna create some issues. Add AHL goaltending a slow start and it's a bit of a disaster.

I normally wouldn't think much of it, its just hearing it from three places really has me thinking. Especially when like them or not two definitely are insiders.

I just think Miller is very I'll fitted to play on a rebuild/retooling team. All the broken sticks and slamming doors just create a toxic environment for the kids. I cannot fathom how a leader can act the way he does. Ultimately, I believe Podkolzin will blossom into a power forward, andthat's when he should take the captaincy, it will be many years until that happens.

i don't believe there's any chance they signed miller with the intent of moving him. they gave him an ntc and there's no contending teams with the cap space to take him before it takes effect. the only two teams that might maybe be interested and can actually make room for miller are the red wings and the sabres and i think if either were interested they would have preferred to get him in the summer

if they move him now it will either be because the relationship/situation has deteriorated to the point he's willing to waive his nmc or it will be some sort of hail mary trade with another strugging team and the canucks will at best get a bunch of similarly bad contracts in return

He is not a leader, he needs to be in a team where there are other guys that can set him straight. Probably works in Tampa because the other guys can tell him to stfu

Miller doesn’t respect anyone on this team because there’s nobody to respect.

Thanks faq

JT Miller is not a 99-point player, he is a player who got 99 points. I wish our ownership understood this.

I said this, pretty much word for word only in finnish, to my buddy this summer when he (not a Nucks fan) insisted that the Canucks should make it a priority to keep Miller.

I don't know what to say at this point. His play... He is unplayable 5 on 5 at center. How the f***?

Regardless of your opinion of Steve Dangle, this is probably the best assessment of JT I've listened to. He goes on a good long rant, particularly on the Dach goal, for how absolutely brutal Miller is in his own zone.
