You’ve to buyout OEL unless there is a realistic chance he stays in LTIR. You simply can’t have a guy like that on your nhl team. Period.

Makes less than zero sense to buy him out.

If you don't want him on the team, then bench him.

But it is nonsensical to the extreme to add dead cap space into the 2030's just to get him off our team now when we're condemned to a losing team these next few years anyway.

Why add cap space when it doesn't matter only to take away cap space when it will matter in the future?

You can’t bench him because he’d still be around the team- you need to send him home.

A player like oel can’t be practicing and travelling with the team. Cancer is an understatement

I completely disagree. Buying out OEL makes zero sense. The Canucks are not in a competitive window, so why would you take cap space away in future years when they could be in a competitive window just to get him off the team now?
Because no body deserves to play on a team with a guy like that. I want a team that fights for each other and for the goals of the team and that can’t happen with guys like OeL on this team. We can’t move forward with him on the team we certainly can’t bring young players onto the team. He needs to either be on LTIR, paid to stay home or bought out. No other options in my opinion.

Cole Sillinger has 8 points in 54 games this year... what are you talking about?

Beniers is a 2nd overall pick. I don't think there's a C level prospect this year that we can get outside of Bedard and Fantili at that level.

I think telling Pettersson "hey we just traded one of the best players on the team playing 2C for peanuts, but we will definitely be competitive soon! Just trust us!" is exactly going to work either.

Canucks aren't going to just dump Miller off for nothing... that would go against everything they have done or said at this point.

The offer has to be substantial for the Canucks to bite. There's nobody in the organization that is even closed to replicating what Miller can provide to the team right now as a 2C that can play all situations and 20 minutes a night.

Manegememt's trapped themselves.

Did he steal your girlfriend?

i'd think this was all nonsense and clickbait, but miller suddenly going week to week is so bizarre i have to entertain the idea something is up.

my favourite theory is that miller pulled himself based on a minor injury he was playing through to try and avoid being traded.

Looking at tonight's line up makes a good argument for keeping Miller. Taking a quick look we'll probably draft a pair of forwards with the VAN/NYI 1sts, and while timelines may vary we're probably much better off bringing them into the NHL with Miller in the lineup. The arguments for moving him now still exist but without him we'll probably need a replacement soon, and you're not necessarily going to find one that puts you in a better position.

Does Hughes fight enough for the team?

Okay well you're wrong, and that's a very poor waste of cap space.

Only one of these options extends the damage into the 2030's.

That's the option to avoid.

3 things can really turn the team around.
1 Miller trade
2 OEL goes onto ltir, for the remainder of his contract.
3 Brock or Garland, get moved, for a decent return

Most other moves are just minor fixes.

Myers sent to the shadow realm, sign Livingstone and hope he's Tanev+, and continue to fix the defense.

I'm still on the "trade Miler before his contract kicks" bandwagon.

I'm sure others arent

I just believe getting out from that contract for even nothing would be a win. Similar to the Stillman trade in the sense that you say, we made a mistake, and we have a chance to move on.

Great game by JT Miller last night..a classic..a goal, a nice assist to EP...giving and taking some big hits..and two backhand passes on the PP to nobody.

Never a dull moment.

That's a fair take.

Anyone's available for the right price.

Dumping him for nothing though (lots of fans want this)? Not sure I buy that being the best move.

How are we going to fill this massive 2C hole with Miller gone when we already need a 3C? or maybe a 4C too if Aman isn't cutting it?

Pettersson-Dries-Aman-Raty? If that's our center depth next year, we might as well pack in the year and tank early. If we trade Miller with no contingency plan to get a center at 2C, then this team is going to go nowhere fast... so we might as we just start the rebuild no?

There's realistically maybe one or two guys we can sign on this list that can become a 2C for us? Maybe Domi? or Compher? Maybe Barbashev? Probably would have to pay these guys at least $5M+.

Just food for thought before we start trading Miller for peanuts.

Too late to talk about moving him now. We're all in on the next two years and nothing we can get for Miller will be remotely close to as good as Miller when it comes to being all in on the next two years.

Miller's contract is a problem for the next GM.

Is Miller actually playing centre these days? I haven't been able to watch the last few games.
