I mean... this shows he cant control him self.

But I dont mind his outburst in this situation.

If we want to be a bit generous, could interpret it as he wanted to win this game for Bruce.
Or we can interpret it as it is

Once again this cancer throwing a little temper tantrum. Who wants to be near that, play with a player like that? Look at kuz, look at ep's eyeroll

I'd agree with you if this wasn't such a common sight. This team is in for a lot of losing and he signed up for a front row seat. The bench reaction tells it all, they know it's a tired routine.

JTM is a beauty. Him and Bruce seem to be real tight, must have been a tough one.

This obsession with his stick smacks is bizarre though. Nobody seems to care when Bo goes ham on a door at the bench... and he does... often. Well okay, some clowns do bash Bo for stupid shit too.

No one cares when Hughes breaks twigs over the post after yet another PP goal against. Anyone notice EP after that Avs empty netter last night? Yea... I don't think Bauer is gonna honor the 12 month warranty on that one.. Is it just sensitive ears? Nobody likes to hear curses?

JT has clearly not been on his game this year. He looks full dad bod, skated in cement the first dozen games. Later had another dozen game stretch where he looked like he didn't GAF. Needs to up his compete.

He is also the teams defending MVP, has contributed to more W's than anyone since joining the team, and is the only player here who has had an elite season as a Canuck. (Hughes maybe the exception)
The "obesssion" with Miller's outbursts is because he does it all the time. No one comments when Hughes does it once, because it happens once out of an actual emotional outburst. Same with Bo.

Miller just throws a tantrum every time things don't go his way, and then has the gall to lambast his teammates for their level of play and work ethic as this guy goes for a 30 second coast without taking a stride.

He has never been this team's MVP. If you think that, you are sorely mistaken.

I would give him a pass if it were an isolated incident. But it's not. He throws tantrums all the time. He's a baby who can't control himself. That's the most generous interpretation I'll give him.

At worst, it's just performative. So that he "looks" like he cares. But based on his work rate and commitment to both ends of the ice, it clearly is not the case that he hates losing that much.

I mean, the Pettersson eye roll really says it all.

oh my sensibilities someone slammed their stick again! Please be couth on the bench!

"Someone" as in the same guy every time, all the time.

"Slammed their stick" as in had another tantrum that naturally spreads more negativity throughout the team

"Couth on the bench" as in keep positive, stay hardworking and be a leader

Excusing Miller's actions just shows a lack of understanding for basic human psychology and how a team could could be negatively impacted by said actions.

Can only pray he wants out and requests a trade, or tocchet hates him and forces mgmt to trade him for whatever

What good is him wanting out if there's no trade market for a mercurial 30 year old winger making 8MM?

The opportunity to trade for value evaporated the moment he signed that extension.

tbh i still think that if JR has the juice to do it on FAQ’s watch, we could still get over half the horvat haul for miller.

the pluses are real, even if some are only perceived. plays three positions, good two ways, capable of scoring 99 pts, wizard on the pp who is helping bo to a monster career year, competitive and wants to win (lol). the real value is when he has his head out of his ass he probably has the second best fundamentals on the team (after petey). but there have to be GMs who aren’t going to land a top UFA and need one who are dumb enough to fall for this.

What's so frustrating is not necessarily that they resigned him, but that they resigned him to a contract that's damn near impossible to move!! They went out on a limb with no safety net. They didn't think to themselves what if this isn't working out for us 1 or 2 years into the contract? Then what do we do? They did not give themselves an option for a plan B.

I see some people saying that Miller smashing sticks shows he has passion. I think it shows immaturity and a lack of self-control. At least when you do it with the frequency that Miller does.

Its also pretty much completely buyout proof.

Seems like our team continues that trend from previous management.

Don't know why.

Demko says hi.

Like I said in the Tocchet thread, I don't buy that Miller is any more likely to maintain PPG/99pts especially as he ages. It's not like he was hitting 70 consistently before coming here. He had to come here and be given tons more icetime to get to these numbers.

Obviously since we seem to be stuck with him I hope I'm wrong but this isn't a slam dunk case for continued points production based on his past history before coming to the Canucks.

I think expecting 3-4 years of 70+ is reasonable for Miller. Provided that he stays healthy.

I never saw him as a 99 pt player, but a ppg guy. IMO that is fine on an 8 mil deal. Length is the worry.

A fantasy, fiction, not real, pretend whatever words needed so poster don't go bananas.

"Today an emotional JT Miller dropped the gloves with Tocchet on the bench and was asking what more do you want of me!!!!"

The ensuing management response was "It was just a small issue and nothing for fans to be concerned with, it will be held behind doors" They said sorry after, no comments from Miller.

Garland was later quoted as saying "It was all Miller's fault, Dad, I mean Tocchet was only riding him for a week calling him out"

The rest of the team just rolled their eyes.

Allvin stated after, "I had no idea there was any friction, I haven't talked to players since last year, I thought all the previous yelling and gestures on the bench was just it was one more brick in getting more re-TOOLS on the ice, Miller has been benched the rest of his contract because he can't be traded due to his very good contract"

I mean last game was the perfect example. Canucks give up that goal (may have been the one disallowed), he slams his stick and is upset (as are others) but he steps on the ice and does a fly by on the forecheck.

It's OK to be, shall I say, passionate and another to then not hold up your end of the bargain.

Yep. And even then, that's what it takes to sign that level of player. Landeskog, Forsberg, Kadri, Zibanejad, Kreider etc. they got contracts that take them past 36 years of age.

A decade of Swedish hockey will do that to you
