Yep, this is the likely reason Miller was not dealt last year. Couldn't take a step back. Gotta brick by brick this thing. We only do “hockey trades” here

What's crazy to me is that these guys have professional video coaches available to them. How have the Canucks not sat him down and been like "watch this 15min supercut of you blowing it defensively then hopping off the ice. Get your shit together, this is unacceptable."If he genuinely believes what he is saying, that he has been defensively responsible... We might be in for a wild ride with this guy. He is keeping players accountable, like yelling at Delia and others. So that would actually lead me to believe he also thinks he is doing what he is supposed to and there is nothing to fix there...
Tragic that a team in our position would pay him this much for that long and he's that poor on defence. He's basically Phil Kessel. He's a top notch finishing piece not a player to mentor younger players and lean on. What a miscast move from management. What on earth are they going to do next? I'm kind of afraid to see what happens.
Ninety6-40-9 era has begunIm willing to bet Miller gets over 90 points next season… anyone want in???
Not real money this isn’t a bet 365 popup
I guess we'll never know who pushed for signing Miller to that ludicrous eight-year extension. The new contract hasn't even kicked in yet, and already you can see there's not a chance in the world that it will work out.
Can you imagine what this player will be like at the four year mark of his contract? Yikes! His teammates would probably be willing to pool their resources to buy him out, if that was legal under the collective bargaining agreement.
This disaster has Aquilini written all over it. He either approved of it or signed off on it. Or probably both.
Rangers offered Lundqvist, 1 of Chytil/Kravtsov, and a 1st. Lundqvist was traded for a 1st, so that’s 2 firsts and Chytil or Kravtsov (I would have taken Chytil). Then we would have had enough cap space to trade for Marino (possibly for Rathbone who is imo better than the prospect that Pittsburgh got).
We would have been in a much better position if we did that. Chytil is a solid 3C, Marino is a solid defensive #2/3 rd and only 25 years old. Then we would have 3 firsts in the 2024 draft, and could use 1 of em to trade for another rhd like Connor Murphy.
*7 year.
(The rest of your post stands though. We're in for it. )

“When I had Sydney Crosby he was just like JT because I always thought he could be a goalie like JT wants to be. We just need to be patient with him and I think if we continue to develop him the right way he will be an excellent goalie in 2-3 years. These things take time, and I know we have a passionate fan base that demands results, but we need to faithfully follow our plan which has always been to sign JT to a mega deal and then convert him to a goalie.”Zero goals, zero assists, zero hits, most of the time just straight up leaves and sits on the bench with half his gear off after the first period. Him and the GM tell the media that they think he's really settling into his new role as a goalie.

And boy do we have a lot of time to sculpt. It's like sculpting. The goalie has always been there. We just have to help it emerge from the JT.
Here is an idea of how the Canucks can unload him. Please someone humour me with a realistic scenario where this guy can be off this team before next summer….
Can’t believe no one posted this yet.
Miller is such a man baby loser. Stop throwing tantrums and try backchecking for once.
Just get him off the team.
