No context: $8M per year is a good value for a PPG player.

Full context: It makes no sense to pay a player $8M per year when your team has no hope of contending until he's no longer worth $8M per year.

If there was ANY HINT that he is a good guy to have around developing young core you could argue that having him around for a rebuild is fine, even if the contract wont be value at the point when you are contending.

which is why i dont get people say hes unmovable

That was a gorgeous pass on the Kuzmenko goal.
Brilliant. This guy has great awareness in the offensive zone. I’m not sophisticated enough to judge what age he may start declining.

Anyone wanna guess or is that nonsense to predict something like this?

Well he looks slower this year then last.

He is coming off his statistical prime right now.

Trade him now. This has become mission-critical.
Canucks management:

Trade Miller at the TDL for a 1st, Lundkvist and Chytil? Nah.

Sign him to a bad contract, watch his value erode, and try to trade him for anything? Yeeeeah buddy.

It was so predictable. We were hoping they would do the right thing, but just knew the worst outcome was going to happen.

I think this was entirely predictable and we should have traded him even if we couldn't have gotten an optimal return.
If only the intelligent people weren't saying that all along!

I can honestly say I did not see this coming.

Them not getting the correct read on what this team actually is.
Overplaying their hand on the Miller trade.
Then resigning him to a retirement contract.

What did the islanders offer us ? I heard it was close to a trade but Alvin botched it ?

I dont think we ever got confirmation it was Miller?

Nor did we get any rumors as to what the return would have been.

One version was that it was Myers and Myers declined to waive.

IF it was Miller, I would venture a guess the Canucks did not allow anyone to talk extension with Miller at that point. And that would probably kill the trade right then and there.
