Starting to think he’s going nowhere. Canucks will keep him and re-evaluate this off-season. Can’t see a team coughing up a 1 and two blue chip prospects.

I agree with this! Only way he goes is for an overpay… perhaps someone steps up. 10% odds I’d give it

The longer it lingers the more I feel like the deal will be in the offseason. He’s basically played too good and it’s going to be hard for any team to provide an adequate offer right now.

If he was slumping I could see more vultures circling with a low ball offer. Sadly.

Fortunately reports out of Vancouver are that our management has decided Toronto doesn't have the assets to get Miller
Well the leafs do have the assets, but aren't going to trade us Marner in exchange for Miller.

I wouldn't want them to either, that's not the direction this trade should take.
Marner is the right age to fit in with our young core. I'd be ecstatic if Miller returned Marner. He won't, of course. The Leafs wouldn't do that. And the Canucks want to dump salay, not add.

Exactly.

Marner is a superstar, but 11 million is too much for us to take on especially at forward which we're pretty set on, I'd rather just keep Miller and give him 8 million a year.

Miller will be 30 when he signs his next contract though. I wonder how many years he will continue to be a dominant force? 4?

IMO that's not fair. Schneider and Chytil would be fair alone and no picks. That's two very good young players, who are under team control for several more years. If PA and JR can get that return they should jump on it.

That should be obvious, I keep seeing people using Millers last 3 years to prove he’s worth Scrooge McDuck’s vault…

Last 3 seasons
Miller 173 games 175 points
Marner 156 games 182 points

At this point I'm starting to think that holding onto Miller and biting the bullet on a long term deal might be the best course of action. I get the impression that he'd be open to moving to a US team, so even if he has a full NTC I don't think it would be a massive issue if we want to move him later on. Sure, he'll likely be in decline by that point and the return at that point would probably be negligible, but if all teams are willing to offer is scraps now anyways, f*** it.
