Everyone keeps on throwing the he's 30 card out.

If he was 25 he wouldn't be available. Let alone for the 2nd pick in a very weak draft.

This is a big ask, more realistic to trade him to a team with a 8th OA to 15th OA pick possibly even a little higher like 6th or 7th. Personally I wouldn’t this team needs some leadership and veteran presence if they can re-sign him to a fair deal but also can’t blame JT for taking the best contract available.

Ya the 30 thing is getting thrown around just as much as the weak draft thing

 He's about to play his 29/30 year old season and is a UFA after that who will undoubtedly be looking to cash in....

Only on HF Vancouver is a 1 year rental work a 2nd overall pick.
Not a rental if the team signs him.... Which I assume is going to be what teams are going to be wanting to do if they trade for him this offseason. Similar to Seth Jones last offseason

When was the last time a 2nd OV was traded? When was the last time a 99 pt player was traded? Also, pretty obvious this would only be a starting point if An extension was in place for Miller

Also, if Van is doing this it’s almost certain to be for Jiricek or Nemec so NJD probably could trade down a couple spots first to get one or more additional picks.

If we're exploring fun hypotheticals, think Miller to Philly for the 5th overall (plus/minus whatever on either side to balance things out) makes more sense than this

Flyers could use a C and are looking to compete. Fletcher is a wildcard (some would say idiot :sarcasm: )

What additions would be needed?

A time machine that could turn the clock back on JT Miller’s age by 10 years.

That should do it.

So if Miller was 20 and putting up 99 points then he would be worth the 2nd OA, HAHAHAH wow........

Wild has little leverage so we could try a Holtz + for Fiala deal too. I forgot about Tkachuk, we really need a guy like that, if we keep the pick the hope is Slaf can be as good as him if we go with him.
Kyle Connor would be another reasonable option (I don't know why Winnipeg would move him, but he'd be a target for the devils, I'm sure)

congrats on your galaxy brain hypothetical, I guess?

2nd overall (in a package) is available for Quinn Hughes or Elias Pettersson. Otherwise, thanks for your time.

Fans won't even look at the extended part . I still would say no from NJD point of view unless it is Demko in there

Demko + Miller extended to NJD
2nd OA + Blackwood to Vancouver

NJD may have to make a small add but much more fair than Miller for the 2nd OA considering where NJD are at in their rebuild and what Miller contract will look like .

If you can read, it says an extended JT Miller… so yeah keep laughing

When was the last time a top 5 pick was traded for a player?
What was the last time a player who put up nearly 100 points was on the block though?

Just saying “an extended Miller” is meaningless. Assuming he’s willing to sign in NJ is a big reach to start with. Then assuming NJ woukd be willing to meet the demands of a player who will be 30 when his next contract begins is another huge hurdle. Not to mention the fact that Miller can’t actually be extended prior to the draft.

NJD publicly expressed they are ready to be competitive and are open to trading their 1st round pick. This was of course when they thought they were drafting around 5th instead of 2nd.

However, lets just humor the idea that NJD hasnt changed their stance and are tired of always drafting high and want to be competitive now and not risk the reality of having their core grow into a losing culture.

What would a a trade look like with the foundation of Miller ( extended) for 2nd OA pick.

NJD and Canucks (Miller) were linked to many many reports of trade talks between the 2 franchises this year.

Miller, 29 yrs old is an Alpha leader that plays with an edge and I can see him being the perfect type of player to lead the young skilled NJD core.

To Van
2nd OA

to NJD
MIller - extended

Who adds and what are those additions.

Let's accept the premise that NJD is open to trading their first round pick.

That doesn't mean they want any age 29 player one year away from UFA like Miller as the primary return. I see two players on the Vancouver roster that NJD might be ready to trade that pick for.
