JT Miller will likely only get 5 games cup o coffee, unless Stepan is traded for D upgrade.

Gee, and SO SO SO MANY GUYS said there was NO POSSIBLE WAY he could be ready yet, even if it was not to finish, but just to skate fast and set up Ws.

I take my lumps so when I get it right despite all the calls to the contrary, I am within rights to say I'm vindicated. They would not bring him up and slow his development unless they either wanted to use him, or showcase him. Even if they just wanted to give him a taste to encourage him further, they wouldn't do that if playing him was a liability.

Stop with this Stepan trade stuff it's not going to happen

I wonder if the organization is that high on Mashinter that they traded for him, told him to play well and they would have a spot for him in the NHL. He has seemed 100% rejuvenated in the AHL since the trade. Would be great if he could hold down a 4th line spot with his size and some offensive punch.

Did not expect this to happen at all but I guess for Miller it's an okay thing to do.. if he's not ready they can just send him down before 6 games.. if he is ready then even better! Confused as to why they sent Ferriero down though, I thought he looked decent enough to stay up

Well...glad to have Mashinter up but from what I've seen from Miller in the AHL, he isn't even remotely close to being ready.

Well, here we go. Roster shakeup underway. Torts is mixing them bottom 6, gonna find some good combos hopefully! :handclap:

Well this is pretty freaking exiting. What the heck are the lines going to be? Miller has to play 3rd line atleast.

Ferrerio did a pretty good job but Mashinter may be around to replace Rupp. They should both come out pumped..........So Kreider down regardless now? Would be pretty balzy to play Miller with Kreider on a 3rd line soon though.

He's playing on the AHL team, so his 1st year is already burned

Miller is 19 years old. 18/19 year olds playing in the AHL see their SPC slide. Anisimov and Grachev SPCs slid. His SPC will slide if he does not play 6 NHL games this season. It is normally 10 games in full 82 game season. In the lockout season. 6 games.

(d) (i) In the event that an 18 year old or 19 year old Player signs an SPC
with a Club but does not play at least ten (10) NHL Games in the first season under that
SPC, the term of his SPC and his number of years in the Entry Level System shall be
extended for a period of one (1) year
, except that this automatic extension will not apply
to a Player who is 19 according to Section 9.2 by virtue of turning 20 between September
16 and December 31 in the year in which he first signs an SPC. Unless a Player and Club
expressly agree to the contrary, in the event a Player's SPC is extended an addit ional year
in accordance wit h this subsection, all terms of the SPC, with the except ion of Signing
Bonuses, but including Paragraph 1 Salary, games played bonuses and Exhibit 5 bonuses,
shall be extended; provided, however, that the Player's Paragraph 1 Salary shall be
extended in all circumstances.

2005 CBA. Nothing changed in the 2013 CBA.

Interesting move, though I did think Ferriero played pretty damn well besides a few miscues. Let's see what happens with Mashinter and JT. Hopefully something starts clicking on the bottom 6.

So, is it possible to see:

Gaborik-Richards-Nash
Hagelin-Stepan-Pyatt
Boyle-Halpern-Asham
Mashinter-Powe-Miller
Bickel

Callahan and Kreider injured?

Any word on how many games it is more an NHL season for free agency purposes? 40 games usually, how about for a 48 game season?

Not completely sure he'll even play. They could have just brought him up to get a feel for it, skate with the big guys and get to know them.

If he does play, I'm guessing he'll be on the third line (this assuming Kreids is out)
Nash - Richards - Gaborik
Hagelin - Stepan - Pyatt
Boyle - Halpern - Miller
Mashinter - Powe - Asham

Edit: If he does well, maybe he could get a couple of shifts on Stepan's line. That's a pretty nice HG trio.

Interesting.

I like the addition of Powe. It will be interesting, IMO, to see what Mashinter can bring. Miller, I hope, will be sent back down unless he is a massive standout, which is unlikely. I don't think he's ready but I am very excited for the day when he is. I just don't want to rush him because we're panicking 8 games in.

This is weird, I was going to post earlier, how badly I wanted to see JT Miller in this lineup.

This is AMAZING NEWS!!

I think Miller will surely play tomorrow night against the Devils unless by some crazy chance Kreider is back which is highly doubtful.

I don't see how Torts could play Powe, Mash, Asham and Boyle all in the same game...Way too repetitive. Yes it is the Devils and a divisional matchup, but they need offense too.

First two lines will most likely stay the same from last game.
Miller Boyle Powe
Mash Halpern Asham
should be bottom two lines.

When Callahan and Kreider come back...
Kreider Boyle Callahan
Mash/Asham Halpern Powe
would be my guess for bottom two lines.

If Miller somehow looks great and they decide to burn a year off, maybe we look to trade someone for defensive depth. Or maybe we see this...
Kreider Miller Callahan
Mash/Asham/Halpern Boyle Powe

We'll see what happens!!

Edit: Meant to say Bickel not Boyle in bold
