Toffoli must be the consensus comparison for him at this point. He reminds me so much of him. I'd take that from Roy any day.

Yeah, that would be amazing for Habs future if Joshua Roy has the same impact of Tyler Toffoli, i'm a big fan of Toffoli and we should be all thrilled about having a young player who can have the same impact.

Hopefully he shreds the AHL like Toffoli did in his rookie year.

You dont like the Toffoli comparison? He literally plays just like him though.

What do you think is different?
There mental game.. Sure they both have high skill and not the fastest skating but i think thats where comparison stops. I think Perry and Roy have a similar IQ, hans in tight, POISE, leadership/.

Perry was also a much larger body that wasn’t afraid to use it in order to gain position and aggravate people.

He’s far closer to Toffoli than Perry, I do agree he seems to have the same type of poise Perry has.

Just to show how unjustified the rank at which Roy ended up being picked. Look at this list of players that were picked first overall in the Q since Mario Lemieux in 1981. Only two went undrafted afterward in the NHL, and from the 39 that were drafted in the NHL, Roy is dead last at #150. Only three other were picked outside of the top-100. It clearly shows how Roy's very low ranking is a special case of awful group thinking. A very negative tag was placed on this kid, and up to this day, he still fights to get rid of it. When you think about guys like Tony De Angelo and Ryan Merkley that had enormous red flags, and went around #20 anyway. It's hard to understand. Remember, Roy was a 2 points per game in the Midget AAA. The elite talent was clear early on.

That's essentially all I'm waiting for lol. He and Kidney have done all that they can in juniors, now it's time to see what we've really got. Can hardly wait.
It's crazy that a guy who went over a 2 PPG pace in 35 games is pretty much a B level prospect for us lol. I totally get it but it's a nice spot to be in for a change.

I don't know if he quite has it myself but mostly this board (again myself included) has all but excluded him from our future line up projections. There's obviously something there. Hopefully he can have a great pro rookie year in Laval to assert himself a bit more in our future plans.

An underated skill he has, he’s strong as hell on the puck. Very rare to see someone push him off the puck. Very strong.
yeah I saw lately him doing some really good puck protection possessions. I think that's what really started to sell me on him.

Once I saw that, I became really sure on him. I think he can be more than just a top 6 complimentary player though that's not an unreasonable projection for him by any means.

He really could turn into one of the biggest steals we ever had at the draft.

He will fit darn well next to Dach. Understanding the defensive game was is easy once he put his legs into it, I was really impressed during WJC. Skills are bleeding out his ears so I don't count him out of the NHL next year.

He is a good one, for sure. Can't wait to see him in Habs uniform. Every pre-season, he was played very well.
