f***ing glad that idiot is gone.

So many bad contracts before he was expelled, sadly.

Anyone who didn't know the Gallagher contract would immediately be regretted, hasn't watched hockey or can buy a couple of bridges I have for sale in Nova Scotia.
Bergy paid him for what he has done, terrible. We are stuck with a 6,5M grinder who doesnt fit the mold at all.

Gallagher's contract isn't the end of the world. It won't make or break this team.

We're at least 3 years away. There would be only 2 seasons where his contract matters against the cap during our window.
We'll be contender in 3 years ? That's news to me.

I still think having Caufield, Farrell and Mesar in your top six is way way too small.
definitely. But there is room for one of each of them on each of the top 3 lines/in the top 9.

CC - Suzuki - Dach
Roy - Mesar - Slafkovsky
Farrell - Beck - Heineman

(and we should get some more good prospects in the upcoming draft... in addition to Ylonen, Rohrer, Guidon, etc...)

I've seen the Toffoli comp a lot and it's pretty good, but I think Roy is smarter and a better playmaker. His positioning and reads are excellent. He's always in the right spots and it's part of what allows him to use his skill to make plays.
I think Roy could be a good 2-way player playing on a 3rd line, and showing his smarts. We know he is not a super-skater but not everyone has to play like a chicken with their head cut off.

Lehkonen is not "fast" but he is smart, determined and a team guy. Roy has a better shot.

He has definitely been showing progress in his overall game which is a great sign. If he can stay dedicated we may have a good one!

This is another reason why someone like Fantilli or Carlsson would be such great fits for the habs. Size down the middle.

I’d of course pick Bedard over them, but if we don’t select first, Fantilli and Carlsson do address the size issue.

Dach, Slaf and one of the 2 above is good size to insulate smaller players like Caufield/Mesar/Farrell.

Farrell is combative, not afraid of anyone. Still I am sure he will appreciate some big forwards and Wifi.

There is a big precedent of size down the middle being key to winning championships.

BUT, I'd still go for top talent if we have a top pick. If that means Mishkov, go with Mishkov. Patrick Kane had the biggest impact on Chicago winning. AND, there is also a huge precedent of 1st round busts that are 6 foot plus centers. Teams tend to reach for them when the talent isn't there.

Debatable

In their heydays, I'd pick Toews over both Kane and Keith. Toews was an absolute even-strength monster on the road, a huge advantage for a team to have.

+/- on the road from 2009-2015:
