Damn, Formenton, Brown and now Norris. All of this is starting to hurt the potential roster we could have had. Imagine we didn't get Joseph when we traded Paul or that Motte was already signed by another team

Could have gone with this if we kept Brown

Tkachuk - Stutzle - Batherson
DeBrincat - Giroux - Brown
Motte - Pinto - Joseph
Kelly - Kastelic - Watson

Hoping Brassard regains some of his younger energy and can keep up for a while
So we’d have 1M in cap space. Giroux can’t really play centre any better than Brassard, which is why he’s been a winger for years, he doesn’t get around the ice as well as he used to.

Man....

f*** Jonathan Toews.

He is scum.
As mentioned previously in this thread, how do you feel about Marian Hossa, Patrick Sharp & Duncan Keith? He was an kid playing for and amongst giants of hockey. They were all veterans in 2010.

Pretty shitty to judge a person that harshly for something that few would have handled better in his situation.

I'd be happy to have him on the team.

Just give up on Brown already. He's also injured long-term, ironically.

Should I start posting line-ups with Dylan DeMelo in them? Anthony Duclair? Mark Stone? Mika Zibanejad?

Time for some closure.

Hold on. I can certainly explain.

We are here to talk about hockey, right?

Maybe, you have already seen some of my Brown posts before but I assume many lurkers or casual HF members don't read nearly as much as you do so I have no problem talking about the same subjects again to eventually catch their attention. I personally read very little on HF now. I read more at certain times in the past but barely anymore outside of prospects related threads

I don't need any "closure". Trading Brown has an EFFECT on the current season (it doesn't mean he would have been injured in Ottawa) and we could certainly use a player of that caliber right now, particularly after the TC news and 2 of our forwards potentially involved. But as someone mentioned, maybe Brown was pissed and didn't want to play for Ottawa anymore so if that's the case, I could live with it. If not, it wasn't the greatest hockey decision based on the context and the fact that hockey players also get injured.

I don't really talk much (if at all) of the other players you mentioned because it's related to past seasons but while we're at it, trading DeMelo for a 3rd is STILL a bad move as we could use him now. Letting Duclair walk probably too

Finally, you talk about "closure" on a guy that was traded 3 months ago when people still talk about many other ghosts from a much farther past.

sure if we knew Josh was going to get injured, also likely wouldn’t of gotten one of cat or Giroux if we kept him

You'd be a pretty awful NHL GM if you were not planning/expecting injuries to NHL players.

We went a bit all in by paying DeBrincat 9 M$ this season and Giroux 7 M$. Our strenght was to have one of the best Top-9 in the NHL but the problem is we started the season with a gigantic hole that was not foreseen. Luckily Motte wasn't signed and did really well so far. But 1st injury and we're in trouble.

So we’d have 1M in cap space. Giroux can’t really play centre any better than Brassard, which is why he’s been a winger for years, he doesn’t get around the ice as well as he used to.

Giroux at C would probably still much better than Brassard...

I like Brassard and hope he does the job but learning that Norris might miss the whole season put us in a tough situation here.

Giroux and Brass on the same line will help with Norris going down. Giroux doesn't play C the best of his ability anymore, but he's still good enough to take face offs and do some heavy lifting for a bit.

If Giroux + DeBrincat, established stars in the league can't carry the 2nd line with stop gaps like Brass or eventually Pinto, we have a larger concern.

Jesus dude.... Let Brown go already. Besides, he's also out long term.

If he has to be shut down for the year, I hope he takes all the time he needs to recover. No point in rushing back. He's young enough to bounce back and we can have him back when we're in the third round of the playoffs ;)

Josh is off to surgery tomorrow. He is flying out to Chicago….out 4-6 months. So so depressing
It's the right decision, get it fixed now rather than ending up needing to do it anyways later.

Likely opens up some budget space via insurance, in an ideal world he's healthy and good to go but I'm more concerned about long term with him.

They are all scum, especially Keith. Keith being a first ballot dbag was well established a while ago.

Surgery is devastating news but definitely the right call. Time to think of the long term best solution instead of something that may work short term but which has lingering bad effects.

Sigh.
