You said, and I quote, that's not how LTIR works, I was correct, and just showed it, so I guess this is your way of saying sorry, my bad?
No , everything I said was correct, and I made it very simple for you to read ,even made a formula.
You over complicated the formula by copying and pasting an over 35 player who can have performance bonuses, which not of that applies in this case. Maybe you copy and pasted it, because you didn’t understand it.

If you find anything wrong with my formula, then I’m all ears.

Damn, Formenton, Brown and now Norris. All of this is starting to hurt the potential roster we could have had. Imagine we didn't get Joseph when we traded Paul or that Motte was already signed by another team

Could have gone with this if we kept Brown

Tkachuk - Stutzle - Batherson
DeBrincat - Giroux - Brown
Motte - Pinto - Joseph
Kelly - Kastelic - Watson

Hoping Brassard regains some of his younger energy and can keep up for a while

sure if we knew Josh was going to get injured, also likely wouldn’t of gotten one of cat or Giroux if we kept him,

Good lord, I gave the actual formula, using the actual terms and copied an example for ease. You accusing me of not understanding is frankly pretty funny given what you've posted.

Here's what you said, "if he goes to LTIR it gives us 3.8 mil in LTIR room, which isn't much different than without LTIR." What does that even mean? It's certainly not what actually happens.

Let's simplify, If we put him on LTIR today we can add about 7.95 mil in contracts to backfill, if we don't we can only add about 4 mil in contracts, seems like a substantial difference to me, it's almost doubling our room.

Just give up on Brown already. He's also injured long-term, ironically.

Should I start posting line-ups with Dylan DeMelo in them? Anthony Duclair? Mark Stone? Mika Zibanejad?

Time for some closure.

Well, for all of his issues, he's definitely more suited for top six work.

I guess Monahan wasn't pulling his weight?
Those early vibes with Monahan reliving his magic seem to have died down, but they are not a team I follow enough to truly say.
We used to play him on our 3rd line with Pageau...
And the old coaches pet, Tom Pyatt!
Yeah, but he's even less intense than before apparently.

There was a time when he was known as a decent forechecker with some jam.

Now he's a shot in the circles attached to a person.
That sounds like the last time we saw Dany Heatley. Just put a stick swinging machine in the slot and you're just as well off.

Hoffman's speed used to give him an advantage and even helped him out on D sometimes, but I would imagine he's lost some of that step.

To get the 7.95 million in money, it requires you use up ALL the 4.15 million in unused cap first, then you get 3.8 million over the cap to use as well, for a total of 7.95.

Sure you get 7.95 million but at the expense of the 4.1 unused currently.

Since 3.8 million is less than the 4.1 we currently have. It makes no sense to go on LTIR until it benefits us more, at this time it doesn’t.

If we pick up a player worth more than 4.1 , then we will have to place Josh on LTIR.

If we spend 4 million on a player today, then tomorrow put Josh on LTIR , we still have the full benefit of the 7.95 to use.
So we get the 4 plus 7.95

If we put Josh on LTIR today, we have the 7.95 in room.
But if we get the 4 million dollar player after Josh goes on LTIR, we can only now add about another 3.9 million for a future player.

Thus it’s better not to go on LTIR at the moment.

Now your repeating what I said, what a world. We aren't going to exceed the cap by Norris' full cap hit, it's not in the budget even with insurance paying 80% of Norris' contract, so no point in discussing maximizing the potential benefit of LTIR. Well put him on LTIR whenever we find a trade to backfill for him assuming it would put us over the cap, even if that's just a 4.1 mil guy, after which point we'll still have LTIR relief to cover callups.
