Not their skill sets, but the fact both were given bad contracts, that they do not deserve

Let me remind you, Norris contract is twice the amount of what White's was
Just a reminder 67% more, not 100% more.

I think he was referring to the total contract value 63 mil for Norris vs 28.5 for White, and not the AAV.

Norris, however, paced at 52 pts pace and followed that up with a 68 pts pace notching 52 goals in 122 games along the way, so not at all comparable to White's situation

MRI was done on Monday from what I understood, they were waiting for the results to be sent to the doctor and the doctor to get back to them. The team may very well know what's going on at this point, they just haven't told Garrioch or whoever,
Depending on when the MRI was completed on Monday, it would not be unreasonable for the radiologist to take until end-of-day today to fully interpret the results. Generally, though, you would hope that wouldnt be the case simply because the longer it takes to interpret, the more likely it is that the injury is a complex one (not necessarily more serious, but more complex). The radiologist would make a report to the lead physician and then the lead physician would make a report to the patient. Does this apply all the same in an NHL organization? No clue.

Of course, there is also a very good chance that everyone who is directly involved knows exactly what is going on and it just hasn't been released to the press yet.

Norris got a big contract after one good year.

So did batherson.

So did Chabot.

So did stutzle.

What's your focus on Norris?

It's not like a bridge would have saved much either. He scored 35 goals in the NHL, that gets you paid, short or long term.
The Senators did the right thing in locking up another young core guy - he happened to get injured and there is nothing you can do about that.

He will be an integral part of our Cup winning teamS

Mendes says Sens will be lucky if Norris comes back this season. Tough blow.

Think we'll need to hit the trade market to pick up some C depth. Don't think Brassard can play a top 6 role all year, and he's not suited for the 3rd line if we move Pinto up eventually.

Potential options (upcoming UFAs on teams that are/could be bad): Jonathan Toews, Bo Horvat, Sean Monahan, Oskar Sundqvist, Erik Haula, Nick Bjugstad.

Slim pickings.

I'm all in on Toews.

Or maybe Greig lights it up in Belleville and is up by February.

Good news: Not a re-injury, so the should surgery has done its job.

Bad news: this is a new injury and will be MONTH TO MONTH

If Pinto moves up, Kastelic could go 3rd line and Gambrell could be 4th line.

But I think they need to see how Brass handles 2nd line duties - we don't need him to be a star and they are all smart players, particularly in the offensive zone so they can still hold their own.

Ya put me on the Toews bandwagon .

Down to knock out two birds with one stone hitch Zaitsev on the other way there and give them our first. Ottawa gets to maintain C depth this year and has the flexibility in the summer to sign Debrincat Norris and Pinto

I found this on TSN. Don't see a date or time on the article though.

It says the injury could be season ending and in another section 3 - 5 months.

Chances are, we'll get another injury to a C at some point this year, so I think you'll have to add depth regardless.

Brassard I think is a guy who can fill in for 5-10 games, but at this stage of his career, not someone I'd count on.

Pinto is a rookie, and while he's looked great, he'll probably have a couple of tough stretches in the dog days of the season.

It's unfortunate, and you don't need to make a panic move, but I think this team has a real shot at the playoffs, so let's not let an injury derail us.

Toews has a full NMC. I don't see it happening.

If Sens are still in the race and Washington falls out, maybe go for Dylan Strome as a rental. His history with Cat is there.

Yeah looks like he might be out for the season but could come back if we're in the playoff picture near the end. but let's face it, without our 1b center for the year, unless we pick up Toews or something, it'll be hella tough to make it in considering we weren't exactly shoe-ins to begin with.

Typical Sens things really.

Really puts a sour note on the season. Still excited, but this really stings and probably hurts our chances if we make it to the playoffs.

Naming a replacement center is the easy part. Indicating who you would move to get the trade done is the hard part.

Would a "find a guy at all/any cost" be the right move? That would be the obvious question that needs to be asked.

Taking it a step further in this direction, is Toews a better option than giving Pinto more time as a 2C and filling in from within?
