Worried about Norris, thought he was hitting his groove in last few games.
He’s such a big part of our team and I fear this is a long term injury
Quite long term apparently. He'd be lucky to play again this year and will likely have to wait until next season. Harsh, harsh stuff for him and us.

Probably should have shut him down and had the surgery done after the injury last season.

Botched Pinto's shoulder injury by bringing him back early. Now another serious shoulder injury could be costing an important young player a season. Terrible for Josh if that is the case.

Easy to say in hindsight. Surgery is never a desirable route especially for a younger athlete. Who said Pinto was rushed back, I’ve never seen that reported.

Always easy in hindsight. He came back briefly last season after hurting his shoulder and blew it up on a faceoff. That was certainly not a great call by the medical staff.

I recall the details of Pinto’s injury. I just don’t think either of us are in a position to say if it was a bad call and I haven’t seen anything reported to suggest it was.

I don't think Norris was ever playing bad but I sensed his vibe was f*cked up. He was struggling mentally which I think could potentially make you more vulnerable to injury.
Not much correct about that opinion, in my opinion of course

This is a rough game, and sometimes guys get hurt. There's also a randomness to the injuries, and some guys are just unlucky. I remember reading about Rocket Richard's early career, and how it was marked by injuries. He had the "injury prone" tag early. Good thing no one in the Habs organization gave up on him. In more modern times, remember about five or six years ago when we were all convinced that Crosby was going to have to retire soon? Dude is 35 now and is still an elite player.

Bottom line - the Norris injury sucks, but he's young, in top shape, and has access to the best medical care and physio out there. He'll be back...

the only thing i can find is that it's day to day and expected to return tonight?

Do you have an official source?
The only official word we have is they are waiting for swelling to go down so that they can do an MRI. He certainly won't play before getting the MRI, but we haven't even moved him to the IR yet little lone LTIR so I suspect the team hasn't made any determination whatsoever wrt the timelines.

Do we know if it's the shoulder or the wrist yet?

Even if they get an X-ray today that says he has no structural injury, I'd say its unlikely he plays tonight.

Well, Garrioch says shoulder in his article, I'd assume he's not just guessing but I suppose you never know.
Garrioch specifically says there is swelling in the shoulder and I cannot see him reporting that without inside info.

No, just the things we heard when it happened. I just assumed it was pretty much just a matter of them confirming.

I hope it's not as bad as I thought.

It was a non-contact injury to a previously operated on shoulder, which has the highest re-occurring injury incidence in sports. A non-contact injury is the most telling for serious injury in any sport.

He knew it was bad, because he's gone through it before. You don't react the way he did without knowing it was a serious issue.

Not sure source is needed to come to the conclusion that he will be out for the next game at the absolute bare minimum. If it were less than 8 weeks I'd be extremely surprised.

Yeah, like I said, I assume he was told, but there's maybe a 10% chance he was just told they need to wait for swelling to go down to do the MRI and put two and two together to conclude the swelling was in the shoulder.

Just a massive part of this team. Probably the best all around forward on the roster. Let's hope it's not too serious.

This is unfortunately all very true.

Sad but true.

Non-contact injuries are 100% the worst and almost always lead to significant time missed.

Based on the fact that this was non-contact, the fact that his shoulder has previously been injured and his reaction afterwards I expect this to be season-ending.

Not a doctor obviously but that's what I'm bracing for.
