To me it looked obvious his left shoulder was hanging when he walked down the hall.

I have been worried about Norris all season. I think he struggled getting moved away from his line with Brady and Drake. Seems like he took it personally and has had a cloud over him. I was psyched to see him score and get the monkey off his back. Too little too late it seems.

I wasn’t too concerned, the eye test showed to me he was doing mostly the right things after getting the rust off the first couple of games and the points would come. Last two games he looked strong to me, this is gonna be a big loss for the team (Captain Obvious, I know).

He plays a lot of minutes, some of the highest of all the forwards. I suspect the only reason they moved him was to create a more defensively responsible line with him and Giroux/Cat. It leaves the others free to create more offence. Anyway, all this to say, I don’t see any reason for him to have a cloud over him… he was a bit snakebitten but was playing some of his best all-around hockey. I’m a huge Pinto fan but I think people expecting him to seamlessly replace Norris might be asking for a lot. He’s not quite as good a 3-zone player (yet). He’ll figure it out over time but this one definitely hurts us.

Kind of irrelevant to Norris but just to bring it up due to the discussion of surgeries. Aren't there some pitchers who intentionally get Tommy John surgery even if it's not a must just because it actually makes the athletes elbow area stronger? Sounds crazy I know but pretty sure I've read that a few times. Shoulders are a different animal though I guess assuming thats the area effecting Josh

I don't think Norris was ever playing bad but I sensed his vibe was f*cked up. He was struggling mentally which I think could potentially make you more vulnerable to injury.

It will never be cleared up one way or another. Sign him now.

If Formenton hasn't been signed yet while Batherson is playing that should tell you something.

If Formenton was the player at the heart of the scandal and he is found guilty, I hope he never plays in the NHL again. Even if that means the Senators lose a quality middle 6 winger for nothing and hurt a bit more while Norris is injured.

Some things are way more important than a silly game, no matter how much we love it.

Norris has been great, he does a lot more than just score goals & seems like the go to guy to take important faceoffs sometimes more so than Giroux. He is a solid two way centre who plays a 200' game & along with that can score & produce pts. This team will miss him if he is out long term.

It is typically a 4 month turnaround without any complications .That puts a return at the end of March beginning of April. Last season Pinto had the surgery but didn't come back because we were already out of the playoff hunt and thus there wasn't any benefit to the risk.

Could be a different story this time.

Where are you seeing wrist?

I may be off but 4 months from today is February 23rd. He could come back for the last 1.5 to 2 months of the season.

Whoops, my bad, miscounted. Still, between waiting for MRI and scheduling surgery, it might still be March-April before we see him.

This is a wild assumption trying to be stayed as a fact (which by every eye test seems completely outlandish) followed by another brutal take.

Being sad makes you injury prone?

These are terrible takes.
Being in your head could obviously make you more injury prone. How can you not apprehend that. You play any sports ever?

It was also obvious Norris was struggling with his new role. It's not virtuous to be unable to interpret that btw.

LOL.

You are packing a lot of nonsense into a few sentences each and every time here, it's almost aprehendable.

Alternatively, nothing you say has any impact.
Of course not, it's a fan board.

But saying you could tell Norris wasn't/isn't well mentally and attributing that to his injury is silly, so I engaged you on it and you went to the really tired, "have you ever even played?!" which made it even worse.

In my opinion Josh Norris was playing the best hockey of his young career, looking to make the transition from trigger man to complete 2 way centre.

I didn’t get a sense that he was sad about not playing with Brady, I mean he’s playing with a Giroux and DeBrincat, not 4th line scrubs or something. He was also still on the same PP, and has now also been given PK responsibilities.

This was looking like a big year for him looking at his team deployment. I’m pulling for the guy because he’s a key piece for us now and going forward.

...or a blind spot with the training regimen on the team. A pattern of injuries could potentially mean the guys aren't working certain muscle groups quite enough, maybe?

I’m not sure that strong shoulders can save you from tearing ligaments like that. Just bad luck unfortunately. Athletes get injured.

I don’t know. Both players suffered shoulder injuries prior, crashing into the boards in similar fashion. It’s unfortunate.

Them getting injured on faceoffs are the result of previous damage done by falling into the boards awkwardly not from a blind spot in training regimens.
