So? He takes himself out of the play to make big hits and creates defensive problems, why is that supposed to be inherently a good thing?

Because look at the Leafs series. Every time Muzzin had the puck, it seemed Anderson was on him. I’m confident in saying that Andy is the player that banged up Jake and eventually forced him out of Games 6 and 7.

Does he cheat along the boards in his own zone to try and get that breakaway pass? Absolutely. He needs to be stronger in getting the puck out. But going out of his way to throw his 6’3 225lbs body into opposing players is not something he should be admonished for. It’s half the reason that they acquired him.

To borrow a phrase, only if you're only looking at goals and assists. When he wasn't scoring he was ensuring the Habs controlled 55% of the shots when he was on the ice and was an effective two way player. That's far more impact in games where he didn't score than just running around throwing hits and taking yourself out of position.

Again, I like Anderson's game but he's a middle six forward with some serious defensive warts and limited playmaking ability, and Pacioretty is a bonafide first line winger good for 35 goals a year and dominant even strength play. They're just in a completely different stratosphere even if Anderson has some unique attributes.

Patches come playoff time played like a creampuff. Sure, he is decent defensively, but he became a perimeter player when it mattered most and floated out there. Did you forget those days? He was incredibly frustrating with his soft play.

Josh Anderson is a beast when he play at his best. I think some people underrated his offensive talent, he got pretty good hands (Better hands than Max Pacioretty), he play the style of the game that we wanted in Max Pacioretty, it's very good to score 30-40 goals but the Josh Anderson game is a real powerforward, Pacioretty is more a two-way goal scorer forward than a prototype of powerforward.

Call me crazy, but i'd rather have 25 goals scorer, 50 points, Josh Anderson who hit, who have great speed than a type of Max Pacioretty player.
To bad he's a 10-15 goals 25 points kind off guy. The guy is the definition of an offensive black hole

From his rookie season of 17G, Anderson is a 20-25G player w speed & physicality, except for 1-season of multiple significant injuries limiting his playing time and derailing his season

The comparisons with Erik Cole are obvious with the puck, but even that part you mention about getting the puck out is something that Cole struggled with alot too. I'm not sure that part of his game gets any better.

I'd predict that Andy will explode this year. He is the type of player that he is better with fans, with more fans this year, he gonna put more intensity to his game.

Looks at his season with Columbus (2018-2019), 82 games, 27 goals and 47 points. I don't know with who he have played, but that Drouin - Dvorak - Anderson have potential to become a pretty good line and play with a playmaker like Drouin will be benefit to his game.

30g, 30a, isn't impossible for a consistent and intense Josh Anderson.

30a seems incredibly unlikely consider how bad a passer/playmaker he is.

30 g 20 a is maybe more realistic

Way to add nothing to the conversation about his production. Suzuki was -5, should we all get together and throw him off a cliff?

If you want to go there, Anderson was +25 leading a good Blue Jackets team two years ago.
Two years ago, what is your point? Kekälainen traded him for a reason?
Danault gone, Suzy will be tested for real. Hopefully he can handle

But, statistically, he's more of a 10-15 assist guy, aside from his 1 year of 20.

I hope he's improved that aspect of his game.

He’s a tremendous asset to have, and hopefully he’s able to stay healthy, because there are very few players in the league with his skill set.

We’ve needed a power forward that can keep opposing defenders honest since Christ was a cowboy. I don’t get the nitpicking. He’s not the most consistent, and he’s not the smartest, but he’s one of the few forwards we have that can hit like a truck, drop the mitts with anyone in the league, and still score 20 goals.

I’ll take a Josh Anderson power forward over the 2.5 decades of Milquetoast midgets we had, every single day of the week.

I can see 30 goals, I can't see 30 assists

I agree that's probably optimistic, but he gets the puck to the net and DVO is a finisher around the net. Seeing that line last night I see how Andy could get more goals AND more assists. The key is going to be JD (if they stay together). If so, that could be the perfect example of a line being the greater sum of the parts. Collectively they do better than in another other combo. Of course, one night of the preseason may have just been the ultimate cruel joke of a teaser... to see what could be, but never is....

This is true but Patch was not surrounded with talent and he's not a line driver. We needed him to be a line driver and that's not who he is. His playoffs stats with the Knights are proof of that. 30 pts in 36 games with 15 goals.
