With Tatar gone, our only sub 6-foot forwards in the top 13 are: Caufield, Suzuki, Drouin, Gallagher and Perreault. Drouin can GTFO. But the other 4 are good in their role.

Drouin is supposed to be 6'0, but he plays like he's 4'3. Still, I agree, he can go.

Good to see Josh going hard at it honestly

I always wonder when it comes to people signing 7-8 year deals and if they start to lax in the summers lol
I'm sure some do but I would like to think the majority of players want to live up to the contract they've signed. Most players want to be the best players they can be

Consider this... We like to say KK will fill into his frame and get better but then I look at Eichel in the background and doesn't he look like he can bulk up too? Difference is Eichel produces on the ice and don't fall down a lot.

I like Kotkaniemi but the Canes might have given us an out. Just like the coyotes did with Domi/Chucky

I think the whole “filling” out is a little misunderstood. For sure, some young players can fill out by bulking up more, but Eichel is probably at his peak. His “filling out” would be more establishing and maintaining his lean muscle mass and staying in shape (as in any mature player). Athletes are not scrubs like me, but the average male typically stops development in their early 20’s.

Anyhow, an actual trainer can probably explain it better but Eichel may not seem big but I’ll bet he’s pretty strong for his size and frame.

Would KK be noticeably stronger on the ice if he added 13 lbs to reach Eichel's weight? They are both 6'-2".

Anyways, don't want to derail the Anderson thread. Just something I was pondering about in terms of body size between Eichel and KK.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to imply KK couldn’t use more mass… he can.

In fact, maybe something closer to Anderson size is needed. Josh plays the type of game where the added mass with his skating is what makes him effective. KK isn’t the skater Anderson is, but if he gets heavier the possession game he plays may improve.

That's kind of what I believed with KK... better lower body and upper body strength so he can use edge work and cut around guys in traffic or some contact. I just wonder though... are we making excuses or does he blossom later like Couturier. It's guess work. What pisses me off is we don't have a development sample from KK outside of the NHL to see his true offensive potential. He went from bottom 6C role in the Finish league at age 17 to 3C in the NHL where we asked him to play a safe 200' game at age 18.

Those who wanted KK to play a offensive role where you just live with the mistakes are not wrong but we are not a development team in the NHL and we were trying to make the playoffs. This roster was not a 100% rebuilding roster like the Sens. So this is why you don't rush KK

Josh Anderson is a beast when he play at his best. I think some people underrated his offensive talent, he got pretty good hands (Better hands than Max Pacioretty), he play the style of the game that we wanted in Max Pacioretty, it's very good to score 30-40 goals but the Josh Anderson game is a real powerforward, Pacioretty is more a two-way goal scorer forward than a prototype of powerforward.

Call me crazy, but i'd rather have 25 goals scorer, 50 points, Josh Anderson who hit, who have great speed than a type of Max Pacioretty player.

Hot take, love Anderson and what he brings (been so long since we've had a friggin powerforward), but Pacioretty is a top-10 goal scorer in the league since 13-14, he had as much goals last season as Anderson had points. They're not in the same stratosphere, play-wise. Never really thought of Max as a PF, thought he was one when drafted, but changed my mind quickly after seeing him play.

Agree, Pacioretty is the better player, no doubt about that. But what Andy can put, speed, hitting ability and can score 25 goals, that's rare. When Pacioretty play with Habs, he looks like a soft player and don't have intensity like Anderson does have.

OK, I will call you crazy then lmao. Pacioretty with Montreal was a massively better player than Anderson will ever be, and he's been even better on a line with Stone in Vegas than he ever was a Hab.

Pacioretty's the significantly better goal scorer, massively better all around play driver, massively better defender (he is great defensively while Anderson is very poor). Pacioretty dragged around David f***ing Desharnais and scored 35 goals like clockwork while providing excellent two-way play and dominating shot share, they're just completely different tiers of player.

I like Anderson's game too and I'm happy we have him, but vs. Pacioretty it's like preferring James Wisniewski as a Hab to Jeff Petry.

Yeah I also think it’s crazy to say Anderson is more valuable than Max. But I get where the poster is coming from. Max was his usual shitty playoff self against the Habs whereas Anderson won a game against Vegas by himself and had 32 hits in the series.

People only look at goals and assists, it seems. When JA wasn't scoring, he was playing physical. He also had a good amount of chances. When Max wasn't scoring, he was pretty invisible. When KK wasn't scoring, he was face first on the ice (sorry, couldn't resist).

So? He takes himself out of the play to make big hits and creates defensive problems, why is that supposed to be inherently a good thing?

To borrow a phrase, only if you're only looking at goals and assists. When he wasn't scoring he was ensuring the Habs controlled 55% of the shots when he was on the ice and was an effective two way player. That's far more impact in games where he didn't score than just running around throwing hits and taking yourself out of position.

Again, I like Anderson's game but he's a middle six forward with some serious defensive warts and limited playmaking ability, and Pacioretty is a bonafide first line winger good for 35 goals a year and dominant even strength play. They're just in a completely different stratosphere even if Anderson has some unique attributes.
