I wrote a thing on Drouin recently on my nascent blog. I won't "self-advertise" and link it here but my thesis was that the Habs aren't necessarily worried about Drouin.

His contract is expiring after next year but ultimately you need some bodies to play hockey. We can't line-up with just AHLers.

Drouin is at his nadir with injures and reputation so it's better to hold onto him and see what happens with the MSL effect rather than try hard to get rid of him. He's 26, two years younger than Galchenyuk!, so who knows how he'll adapt.

I doubt we'd get a valuable return for him, so what's the use stressing about him? Is he stealing TOI from more worthy players? He's not even the worst contract on the team with Gallagher, Petry, Price, Armia, etc.

MSL could be good for Drouin. Like to see if Drouin can revert back to his earlier days. He has speed and hands which fit well into MSL style. All those defensive style coaches ruined his confidence

Drouin gets back I would waive Armia. If he doesn't get claimed be good for Laval playoff drive.

I know its sacrilege here to say anything positive about Drouin, but I think he could look good with how MSL has the team playing. Only problem is we really only have 1 centre playing well, but maybe JD and Dvorak will get each other going now that they won't have the DD anchor weighing them down.

Good to see more offence in in the line up; whatever our opinion of his net output/salary his style plays into what the team is trying to do. 2-3rd lines built with skaters like him and Hoffman is more entertaining than Lehk and Armia for sure (par exemple).

Honestly, if MSL can somehow get Drouin producing on a consistent level and he can put up 50-60 points a year, I'd be more than happy keeping him. The guy does have talent and he's not old.

I am in that camp as well.

I think MSL's more "intuitive's" system can work wonder for Drouin. We do need to have defensemen playing a strong "last man" game for this to work, though. Although, while he wasen't particularly good at it, I felt like Drouing was at least making decent backchecking efforts on turnovers.

He always plays dece for a bit then fades when games start getting harder since he’s been on the Habs.

Maybe he can play in The league on another team still, we’ll see, but looking forward to moving on from him here.

It will be interesting to see how he does in these last 20 games in the MSL system

As Basement Jaxx famously said, "Where's Your Head At?"

If Drouin and Gally play the same amount of games from now 'til season's end, Drouin will score more points for $1m less cap hit.

Yeah yeah two wrongs don't make a right, I know.

How easy you can be for the lazy king of excuses. This man doesn't have a single competitive fiber in him. I'd like to be the guy who is paid to oil Drouin's wheel of excuses, 'cause I would earn thousands working constantly overtime.

No matter who's coach, who's on his line, whether he plays center, winger or PP QB, Habs are competing or done for the season - there's always "maybe this time around". This is his fifth year around and I know it's hard to be a hometown kid and playing bad, but at some point we need to stop dreaming how he could be solid 50 point player with unexisting defensive play. A massive heartless bust like Drouin should not be around future core.

Honestly my Drouin concern well is dry at this point. I hope he's healthy but I don't have the patience to wait on him to break out for the 7th time in his career. He got his NHLPA pension 7 games into the season and has been coasting since. I don't personally believe he regained his passion to play hockey this season but I believe he didn't want to walk away from that much money.

Even Rem Pitlick off of waivers is looking better than Drou ever has for us. He's been overpaid his entire time here and I don't see how he could be looked as a building block based on his current level of play.
