Kinda indifferent towards this trade; it had to be done, and if that was the best offer Dean could get then so be it. We'll just have to see how Frattin works out. I still think we lack a 2nd line LW.

I don't understand this trade at all from the Maple Leafs perspective.

Carter needs to move back to center; we need three scoring lines!

Brown - Kopitar - Williams

Holloway/Penner - Carter - Vey

Frattin - Richards - Toffoli

Clifford - Stoll - Lewis

King/Nolan

Fraser is moved/bought out.

If Frattin figures out his consistency issues you guys will have your 2nd line LW. Hes a tank on skates and has a cannon of a shot. His ONLY issue is consistency, his hot and cold streaks are ridiculous, on both extremes.

Some people are trying to put down Frattin while pumping up the need for Read because Frattin scored a chunk of his points in a 10 game span. Well, Read scored 9 of his points in three games when Philly scored 24 goals in a week.

Also, some Kings fans are saying Read is talented while saying Frattin is not. Well, Read is not that skilled of a player. He has no top skill. When he was Frattin's age did anyone know he was living? We've seen players like him in Philly over the last handful of years. They have a solid year, get a big contract elsewhere and then fade into obscurity.

Why? This is never happening. We're not paying $3.25M for a 4th line center. ****.

That I doubt., However 20g20a isnt out of the question for him in the near future.

He was talking about Kopi, since Kopi is the streakiest of all streakers. He vacations every January.

Nor are we paying Mike Richards money for a 3rd line center. Haha.

When will you realize that where a guy is placed in our lineup is not in any way related to his salary? Stop thinking in those terms already.

And just because he gets -- or starts out with -- 4th line ES minutes doesn't mean he won't be out there taking key faceoffs and on the PK.

Fratts '13 highlights

For now he's a Brown lite. Now, he has had partying issues in the past (college), so as long as he stays away from Richie, Carts and Quick he should be fine (JK):sarcasm:.The kid's going to turn out to be a player and was a chip that I was afraid to see go. He WILL endear your fan base to his style of play even when he's not accumulating pts. If he and the Cpt get on the same page......There WILL be a lot of slow singin' and flower bringin' by the teams you'll face.

Scrivens: More like a competent back-up in the mold of Fiset-esque. Won't really win you any games but he's not going to be THE reason you lost (re:.Roman Čechmánek) this deal should work out for both sides.

Read is not that skilled of a player? really? 71 pts in 121 games, great defensvily, great pker', solid on the PP, fast, smart, yeah...lots of team should suffer with players that aren't talented like that.

He has no top skill? not if scoring goals, setting up goals, killing penalties, working the pp, going against top lines to shut them down, playing a very smart 2 way game a a top 6 player. Guess you have a different definition of 'top skill".

Where was he when he was Frattin's age.? at 25 and 1/2 he was halfway thru his rookie year with the FLyers (24 G, 47 points) and performing as one of the top rookies in the NHL, that's whre he was.

Philly players that fade into obscurity? Lke Justin Williams, Mike Richards, Jeff Carter, Patrick Sharpe? Joffrey Lupul? Bobrobsky? Dennis Seidenberg? Simon Gagne? Yeah, they faded fast didn't they???

When will you realize that where a guy is placed in our lineup is not in any way related to how much money he makes? Stop thinking in those terms already.

And just because he gets -- or starts out with -- 4th line ES minutes doesn't mean he won't be out there taking key faceoffs and on the PK.

Mike Komisarek is a decent number 6 defenseman. But he's going to be bought out because of his cap hit. Danny Briere is still a useful player. Being bought out because Philly cannot afford to pay him his cap hit for a reduced role and production. It absolutely is a valid argument. And to pay someone $3.25M for probably 5 minutes of even strength minutes isn't good. Plus, it's NEVER happening. Ever. Period.

And even beyond that, you have Toffoli on a 3rd line with Richards when he showed a lot of chemistry with Carter. AND you have Vey, who is going to be a center if he makes it to the NHL, as a RWer. Your lines simply aren't realistic.

When will you realize 2 games at center doesn't out way 45 goal pace over 50 games at wing...

Stop using logic. Ville Leino is enough proof that ALL former Flyers end up sucking elsewhere. :sarcasm:

I see your argument, but Stoll means much more to the team than just his play on the ice. He's a great leader and role model for the kids. Plus, even if he were to start out on the fourth line, again, because of the key faceoffs and time on special teams, he would still easily get 10 minutes a night.

As for Toffoli, I could see it going both ways, but I figured that putting him on Carter's line would leave a gaping hole as far as finishing ability goes with Richards. Putting Vey with Richards would be redundant, imo.

With that ridiculous post you have just proven, you have not watched Read play at all.

I don't know if many remember Poorman from his KROQ days in LA, but he's been a die hard Bernier fan since day one. Not a happy camper today.

Poorman ‏@Poorman1

Dumb Ass trade @LAKings. You made your bed. Now you'll sleep in it. #Bernier didn't ever get a Chance. @LAKings arrogant. #HollywoodSnobs.

^------Someone that actually has seen Read play.....

Listen to this guy ^-------

Toronto offered a better package, and that is fine.

But Matt Read is one hell of a Winger.

Well, I think I will lay in it. It's a mighty fine bed. Already has a championship in it. Thank you, sir.

You guys just got a good player in Frattin. You will like the way he plays, fits west coast hockey to a tee. Hard hitter, fast skater, skilled when paired likewise players. He won't start on your 2nd line but can fill that role if need be.

Scrivens is a very smart goalie, he won't steal games but is positionaly sound. If he lets in a bad goal, for us it could always be traced back to our D.

Good luck to both of them going forward, both good people and wish them the best.

"He won't play on your second line"

I think he will play second line LW, with Richards and Carter.
Duh-wight King played with them most of the year and he went
through entire games, without creating 1 single offensive chance
for himself or for Carter and Richards. That is atrocious. King would not go to scoring areas, but preferred to cycle pucks, or even go into battles 'to help', in which Carter or Richards would get the puck and King was not in a scoring position. King has no clue or business, being in the top 6. Hands, smarts, vision, sense are below average.
All of the Frattin highlight goals - King has 1 or 2 goals like that in his NHL career.

Since Frattin produced with Kadri and in top 6 situations, he will do VERY well with Carter and Richards.
