Its a valid concern for a guy one year away from ufa status if your giving up an asset like bernier. Why risk it if there are other similar offers for assets you have control of longer?

Like Who ?

Zucker and Frattin have proved nothing in the NHL. I doubt the Wild have even offered Zucker.

Frattin I can believe, Lombardi type player.

I don't believe his impact directly translates over to the Kings system, he's undersized, and his contract stats is a concern. When you add it all up, it's too big of a risk

It's difficult to get a grasp on how much Philly's system inflates points. Even harder with a late bloomer. One part of me sees how Simmonds turned into a near 30 goal guy there. Their forwards just don't sweat defense at all. On the other hand, after watching Read I would think he has the tools to score anywhere he plays. Glad I'm not the one that has to make the call on who to trade JB for.

I would too, But I bet the Wild have not offered him, that is why the reports have Philly as the front runner.

So I don't consider Zucker even in the equation.

So we know that the Islanders and Wild are in the bidding, what do you think they are offering if Martin and Zucker are off limits?

Simmods always scored at a decent rate at Even strength, Terry Murray was just too stupid to use Simmer properly.

Once Philly gave Simmer PP time his numbers took off, like they should.

Can't believe people are against bringing in a Proven winger cause of Cap space .....

Aren't all of you tired of the constant revolving door at LW ?

Now everyone wants to plant some Rookie there and hope for the best.

I am tired of that crap, Bring in a guy that will make an impact.

Ignoring the cap is Holmgren's way of thinking. Also, there is a lot of talk that the cap will go up marginally after next season, so team's with high payrolls have to be cautious.

Picks and B type Prospects....Which is why the reports have Philly ahead.

NYI have made Zero noise in the trade reports, Where there is smoke their is fire.

NYI and the Wild have had ZERO Smoke in this Auction.

I am Sure Lombardi has thought out a Cap plan , if he Trades for Read.

Not even worried. No idea why everyone else is.

Lombardi knows what he is doing if Read comes on board.

Hey if Read is the best we can get for Bernier, then so be it, he'd probably be a good fit here, although we could always wait a year and try and sign him as a UFA.

If people are really that concerned with Cap space.

Then everyone should be on the Brandon Kozun band wagon.

Would cost the Kings nothing, just give him a shot.

More like Toffoli/Vey/Pearson before Kozun.

Arthur Staple, isles beat writer, said Isles talked to Lombardi mid season for Bernier and are still talking (this was like 5-7 days ago or something.)

Isles don't get into rumor crap, Garth really doesn't let stuff leak.

So we should never sign anyone, or bring up anyone based off that thought process.

They could get injured, they burn a year off the contract ETC..

If he scores 20G, he probably wouldn't command that much on the open market.

If Lombardi wanted Read it will be done already.

This X 1000. He's barely proven zilch. It's all inflated. That guys shorter than Richards and Richards got manhandled by Thorntons line almost the whole series. 2nd line needs someone who isn't a midget.

BMB tweeted Zucker is off the table. How good is Erik Haula?
LW and led U of Minn in scoring last 2 years and then played the
rest of the season on the Wild's Houston team.

Would: Haula + Kemper be a decent return for JB?

I am sure if DL, Hex and Jack are pleased with 1 current offer, it
is better than this, though. I hope we can get Zucker or Granlund,
though. Is Granlund untouchable?

That would suck. Haula is a year or two away from NHL competition and we already have a better, more NHL ready prospect in Pearson. We need to get a valuable contributor and/or 1st or early 2nd round draft pick in this trade. A back-up goalie and an average prospect who is years away does nothing for me.

Sorry, I don't know anything about Haula, but when I was going through the Wild prospects, his numbers are impressive. He outscored
teammate Nick Bjugstad by 15 points last year. Bjugstad was taken 19th overall by the Panthers and considered a top 50 NHL prospect.

And I did mention that we are surely getting something better than that.

The way I can best answer this is that there is going to be allot media jockeying going on for the next few days. One player isn't available then they are, the Kings are "desperately trying to get one team to reengage" and other such stuff. It should just be ignored.

The Kings aren't desperately trying to get the Isles to reengage by the way or at least that wasn't how it looked yesterday. They are trying to get the Isles to come through with fair value. I will add that I have heard that DL wants little to do with Nino. Not saying we don't want him or he isn't a good to possibly great young player but I am saying that he isn't seen as a solid fit for our team.

I like Haula but he is two years away. He can certainly play. I like Mario Lucia allot more but being from Minny and being the son of UM legendary Coach and the fact that he can flat out play makes him moving unlikely. I think that we can do better than Zucker. I like him no doubt about it and he can play but he has had head injuries so it is something to consider especially if you take into account the style of game that we play.

I like Biggs out of TO allot better but that is me. One thing is certain, we are going to be an even better team without any question once JB is dealt. I have perfect confidence in this.

You'd be a hell of a blogger, do you know that? You have a knack for making believable statements without actual fact attached (quotes, etc). (That isn't meant as an insult, as those of us who spend most of our time on the Kings boards know your credibility).

Truly. If there was an AP to alert me when T'sG posted, I would have it.

I always appreciate what you are able to impart. Looking forward to the Kings becoming a better team this coming week...and for Bernier
to get a new start.

I'd agree with that, he always seems to have a good insight into whats going on. Should be the kings board MVP

We're not worthy!

Why would he ? Cup contending team, he will be a top six player, playing with Richards/Carter or Kopitar/Williams..... Why the hell would you walk away from that. The Kings will have enough Cap space next season to pay him accordingly. So it's not like they would low ball him .

What it this fascination with Read?
Read is undersized, undrafted and in one year from UFA player with high salary demand.
He was good value for Philadelphia for 900k, but will be bad value after 2013/2014.

If he is going to play with Richards/Carter this line will be physically dominated by opposition.
If he is going to play with Kopitar/Williams, he is going to replace Brown?

We want to trade great goalie like Bernier for Read?
