The teams finally starting to play a bit better and find the back of the net though. I think his overall pace could pick up even. Now our goaltending on the other hand.

Also, it's too bad JG's 1st period rush where he took on the whole Sabres team didn't convert into a goal. That was ridiculous. Kid is amazing!

Anyone have a gif of this? I saw a quick reply when I turned the game on, but didn't catch the whole play. Though I'm sure it was amazing :sarcasm:

Nice comments from our traditional rival to the north! Glad to see the straight up talent is being appreciated.

Don't get too cocky, Draisaitl is a talented player who I'm afraid is going to wreak havoc on the Flames for years. I predict him to be your most productive player very soon (well, after McJesus, but I meant more than Hall)

The TSN highlight pack has a zoomed-in version of that rush: http://www.tsn.ca/gaudreau-scores-late-flames-top-sabres-1.407506

But I don't think his injury was a cheapshot, Rangediddy. Risto just shoved him hard away from the net.

Nice find! Man that whole highlight reel of the game was almost all Gaudreau lol. Also that final goal he scored showed him taking the pass between the legs to himself. That was sweet!

But I loved that long Rush was shown - truly spectacular (albeit better had he scored).

I know, so am I. I just didn't want you rubbing our one incredibly talented player in their face when they've got a couple they could rub back in ours...

Just repaying the provincial respect.

You said "I predict him to be your most productive player very soon . . . " I guess you were talking to Edmontonians then.

Never mind, it's all good.

You said "your" and he thought you were referring to him. ;)

It does look like the Flames/Oilers competitive rivalry might be ready to finally launch off the ground like we've all been hoping for a while.

He leads his team in goals (10), assists (18), points (28), GWG (4), and +/- (+4).

That last stat is the most impressive. +4 on a team with the worst differential in the league (-26). He's also 2nd in the league in GWG, on a team with only 12 wins, and trails only Kane, Benn, and Seguin for the league ES scoring lead.

Let me know when I'm allowed to gloat.

Just imagine if we didn't have the worst special teams in the league. Even below average would have him a few more.

Urgh I'm an oilers fan too but I have to respect this little midget. I can't freaking believe how good he is. Every time it looks like he's completely run out of options yet he ends up making a sick play and the flames end up scoring. Hate myself for saying this but he's simply too good.

Question for flame fans honestly, does he make monohan better? Cus every time I watch, monohan just ends up being gifted goals from Johnny hockey with tap in. Johnny Santa just gifting everybody down there that little punk

Calling him a punk and a midget is super respectful. How big of you

Firm believer that Hudler and Monahan should both be giving Johnny half their pay. Although you could say that about half the team.

Can't watch in United States. Any other way to view? Youtube/GIF?

I'm not sure it would be worth it. It was really just a shove - just unfortunate that Jones was coming in right behind him.

The real highlight of the night was Hartley talking about all the puking in the Flames locker room before the game because of the flu lol. That guy gives the best sound bites.

EDIT: Oh sorry - just realized you mean the goal and not the Risto play.

For sure, he seems to always get a cheap shot thrown his way every game, but shrugs it off. True toughness.

Brent Burns took a good two hander to him the other night and it barely affected him.

The Risto hit was clean, it's just the way he bumped into Jones; I think that's been said. It's really, really weird Calgary didn't beef up that line or at least have someone out there cleaning up the liberties. He gets a dirty chop every games, or a late rub out; but there should be someone on this team to keep teams accountable.

For all the grief players like him use to get, the 2013 Flames were young but Big Ern made sure that team was never pushed around. I remember when he kicked out of the Vancouver game, they took a ton of liberties; next game, line brawl to keep the other team accountable. I know the age of the enforcer is dead; but the fact every game Gaudreau gets some kind of late hit or whack... I know he pops back up every time... the time he doesn't; this Flames team is DoA.

Gaudreau is as close to kane as panirin is to gaudreau.

Brilliant player is Johnny, but, let's be honest. Comparing him to the leading point scorer of this year and last year before he got injured is putting too much expectations on him. Stylistic, sure. Points wise, I think Gaudreau's peak won't be as high but will be very steady over many years (PPG for 7+ years). JMO

Hudler more so than Monahan. Monahan is one the most composed finishers I've ever seen. If he gets the puck near the net I would put him against anyone in his finishing ability. The little kick he did tonight on his first goal is a beautiful example.

Good post, but I think that JG's offensive will as high as Kane's someday. He's just too good. Obviously Kane is a superstar and ''the bar'' when it comes to players of his style. But JG is just sooooo damn good. Truly a potential superstar in the making.

I'm looking forward to Kane and Gaudreau being on the same line in some type of international competition. Who is going to stop them?

An absolute stud, always found it funny how oiler fans would try to deny he would become anything due to size. One of my favourite players to watch.

Monahan will and can score no matter who he plays with, proven by his 20g rookie season, his ability to be in the right spot and find the puck in tight is amazing. That being said, having Johnny creating the plays for him makes it that much easier. Yah he gets some tap in but he's got a lot of beautiful pure sniper/goal scorer goals. Gaudreau does make others better, but Hudler is a bigger example of that

Not saying Gaudreau is at a Kane level, but up until now, Kane was a PPG player. He's found a way to go into some next level scoring this year, but that 's only through 29 games.

Kane's currently on pace for over 120 points. It would be exciting to see him accomplish that, but history tells us that he's likely to finish around the 90 mark.
